Wrayth and TMST: Who are some authors you have been meaning to read?

In the Empire of Arkaym, the Order of Deacons protects and shelters the citizens from the attacks of the unliving. All are sworn to fight the evil forces of the geists—and to keep the world safe from the power of the Otherside…

Although she is one of the most powerful Deacons in the Order, Sorcha Faris is still unable to move or speak after her last battle. Even her partner, Merrick Chambers, cannot reach her through their shared Bond. Yet there are those who still fear Sorcha and the mystery of her hidden past.

Meanwhile, Merrick has been asked to investigate a new member of the Emperor’s Court. But when Sorcha is abducted by men seeking Raed Rossin, the shapeshifting rival to the throne, Merrick must choose where his loyalties lie.

My thoughts:
From the beginning I had the same issue with this one as book 2. There I just thought that maybe it was not the right time to read it. Well, now I know, it's the book. I just can not connect! Book 1 was nothing special, but it was good enough and I read more in case it got better. It was very light fantasy and fast to read. Anyway, it did not get better. It got worse.

I tried to get through this book but omg so dull! There was nothing magical about it anymore. I started to skim so I would get to the end then I read some reviews of book 4 to see how it ends. Cos I am done done with this series. So done. Bleh, why did I even get this one!?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

This week's conversation starter:
August 22nd: Who are some authors you have been meaning to read?

No! Do not ask me that. This is going to be really short! I honestly do not know. I have the WORST memory. I see reviews and I am all I have to try that author! Then I forget about the name. Because I do not go at once to goodreads to put them on my wishlist. My wishlist I want to keep kind of tiny and then those other authors I try when given a chance.

But hey, what are some authors that YOU have been meaning to read? Give me some ideas who I have to try.

  2. I'm actually quite curious about the authors that I've still been meaning to pick up, I feel like I need to make a list for the rest of the year and try and tackle it already! Another great post!

  10. Bummer! It kinda does have a nice cover, alas that is not enough. :) And yeah I'm awful with the names, I'm better with remembering the titles?

  11. Sorry the second one was no improvement on the first of the series.

Haha, I have so many I want/need to try that the list would be very long. I finally tried Gail Carriger this summer and maybe I can get to another author's books this fall that I've been wanting to try.

  15. I'm sorry this book didn't work for you. I know that I've done that with a few series. I think book one is okay, so I give book two ago and it isn't any better or it gets worse. So many authors I want to read. I do tend to add them to Goodreads, but I don't go through them enough to notice. Mostly, I'm like you. I see a review and remember I want to try that author.

As for the series, yes. If you are struggling now, don't get the last book. I don't think you'll get along with it either.

  21. :-( Sorry you didn't enjoy the series. I am one of those that LOVED the Books of the Order. LOVED them! I probably still have my notes about the 4th book and can share with you, if you want to know.

Probably top of my list on authors to try is Faith Hunter - I want to read Jane Yellowrock series.
