November 14th: What were your favorite surprise books of the year?
I think instead of picking a book here and there I will just say that Audio was my surprise book of the year. Yes I listened to audio before. I went from 1 a year, to 1 that took 6 months, down to 1 a month. But it was not before Baby S was born that I really started to enjoy audio. And for the last few months my favorite book of the month has been an audiobook! The experience is just different. And even a book that I knew might just be good if I had read it, turns out to be great when listening. Because of that little extra something.
I mostly listen when I take her out for a walk. And since I want to get a lot of listening time in those walks are at least 50 min long. And at last 2 walks a day. I am also terribly hooked on listening to at least 1.7 speed. Omg the slower ones drives me insaaaaaaane. I just can not anymore.
arghhhh something is wrong with GR! I can't remember stuff like this on my own! Books read show as unread. Sigh. I will give you one book then.
A recent surprise as I usually like contemporary, but they are never great. Just good. Which is good

I'm a recent covert too, not quite as recent I've been an audio lover for several years now.
ReplyDeleteAll new to me and I love it
Deleteit's been three years since i first discovered audio books. they're so convenient! i love that we're able to multi task.

Deleteglad you been enjoying audiobooks so much!
ReplyDelete:) I'm just finished Irresistible You via audiobook hehe!
ReplyDeleteCurious about your thoughts :D
Deleteoh I hear that Kate Meader is just fantastic and audiobooks are great right?
ReplyDeleteShe is so good!
DeleteI have not even tried the library ones, mostly cos well cds and how to listen then..
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to audio books but I'm glad you find them a good fit for you.
ReplyDeleteThey work excellent during long walks
DeleteI am yet to enter in to audio book territory.
ReplyDeleteOne day perhaps
DeleteAudios are great for walks. I do that, too :) And 1.5x :)
ReplyDeleteThat is as low as I can go, awesome speed
Delete:D Goodreads helped me a lot.
ReplyDeleteStupid GR for having issues
DeleteHa! Clever response. I do know what you mean, though. I rarely DNF audios like I can do with print books. The narrator can sometimes keep me listening when the plot isn't impressing me. Plus, audios are great for getting in books when I can't sit down and read.
ReplyDeleteYay for exercise and books together. Go you!
Yes, you get me :D A narrator can sure work magic! I am so glad I gave them a try, it only took me aaages an a baby ;)
DeleteYep, if it weren't for audio, I probably wouldn't have been able to enjoy any books when both my children were infants. Audiobooks make it so much more convenient especially for busy moms with babies!

So good! Today she was chewing on a jacket from a book, so real books or ebooks are no good
DeleteMy fav surprise book so far this year has been The Love Experiment by Ainslie Paton. It was a delightful read.
ReplyDeleteDelightful is well delightful :D
DeleteI don't really connect myself to audiobooks
ReplyDeleteThey are not for everyone in the end
DeleteI still can't due audio. I get so distracted :-( I keep trying.
ReplyDeleteFor What It's Worth
The thing is to do it when no one is around...and you are outside, lol
Delete1.7 is impressive. I'm usually at 1.5 and never listen at a slower speed. I love audiobooks but rarely get any for review. That's ok. Plenty of other places to borrow from.
ReplyDeleteSlower, *shudders* Nope. I am glad I found a good app for them since this other one makes the sound weird at a higher speed
DeleteYea for audiobooks!! They are such a huge part of my life now, I don't feel right when I don't have them. Car, walking, sometimes at home when the book is really good and at a critical spot! I have actually given a number of audiobooks 4.5 and 5 stars this year... so I don't know which I'd pick as my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI have given out many 4s to them, considering I have not listened to that many. Love them
DeleteI do love audiobooks. I am so glad you have been able to enjoy them so much this year.
ReplyDeleteThey are the best
DeleteI'm glad that you've converted. It took me a bit to get hooked, but now I listen to twice as many books as I read. I think some really great narrators out there that make the stories even better.
