Tell me something Tuesday: How do you keep up with commenting?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post here on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

This week's conversation starter:
May 2nd: How do you keep up with commenting?

I used to have this awesome system where I did commenting before work and then late at night. But that totally fell apart during this fall when I was too tired to comment. I still got it done, but I was usually 2 days late ;)

And since I need to be doing a lot at the same time, I tend to comment on blogs while watching tv. Or just procrastinate, and then realise that I should be in bed and comment like crazy in a few minutes. Maybe not my best commenting, but at least I get something done.

I am also really bad at long comments. I have tabs open for 2 hours and then when I get to commenting I have forgotten what I just read in the review. I always feel like my comments should be longer, but I have given up, I think short is me. I just can not seem to shake it.

How I will keep up commenting in the future, we will see. Maybe I can shake that, looking at tv and commenting ;)

And I do tend to skip a few posts sometimes if I have too many, mostly spotlights and such...eh.

  1. I comment before work and after work as well. I actually love commenting and visiting other blogs.

  2. Typically I go over my feed in the morning before work. Or, like you, when the TV is on and I have no reviews to write.

  3. Luci looks really crabby in that picture! Must be all the snow...

LOL - "keep up" with commenting?! You know how poorly I manage that... ;) But I try to comment at least once or twice a week here!

  4. I usually do some commenting first thing in the morning after my walk. After that, I just do the best I can. My comments are generally short too.

  5. LOL I'm like...erm, not well? My system kinda fell apart and now I comment bomb people and get like a weeks worth in at once. Oy.

  6. You're a commenting machine. I don't think you EVER missed any of my posts lol (you know I've come to rely on those to make sure it even went up!) and I see you on all the other blogs.

I have a bookmarked list of blogs I go through and then I try to pick up a few new blogs via comments or twitter.

    1. I might have a tiny case of commenting OCD ;)
LOL, and I was always so sad when I did not make it there first!

  7. I start my day by opening windows for the blogs I always visit, and then I'll just do one tab at a time throughout the day. It's more important to me to comment on others blogs than to reply (I do reply; it's just if I have to make a choice, I go a-commenting first,) so I've fallen behind two weeks on replying before. It happens. As much as I wish my life was blogging, I have other things that take precedence.

    Great post! :)

  8. I try to stay focused and not get distracted by the shinies. I have totally cleaned out my feed and I avoid commenting on spam posts. Your short comments are great, they always make me laugh.

  9. I have all the blogs that I visit saved in my bookmarks. So I just go down the line in my bookmarks tab and see if the blogs have any new posts and make a comment on them.

  10. Return commenting on my own blog fell to the wayside this last year or so with all that's going on. I feel bad as I enjoy responding and commenting on friends blogs. I'm working to get back to a system now, though I'm not sure what that is. ;D

  11. It can be hard to comment, especially when you work, and I end up commenting back a couple of days late sometimes, too. But I guess better late than never. Great post! Your cat doesn't appear pleased with the weather, lol! :)

  13. I also have a commenting ritual. Usually after dinner when I'm just relaxing and digesting, right before I have to get moving again to do chores. It's a nice relaxing activity for me :)

  14. I struggle with this, but I also comment with other things going on, namely my audio book. It makes for an interesting distracted comment at times for sure.

    1. That would work! I have a hard time knowing what to do when I am listening to an audio

  15. I usually spend a little time and the beginning or/and end of the day commenting. It's a chance to find out about great books.

  16. I do my commenting in morning before heading to work and I will try and complete in the evenings when I get home. I love your short comments, some do make me smile.

  17. I see nothing wrong with short comments. I try to swing by and comment back on blogs that have stopped by my site a few times a week. Otherwise, I visit blogs I follow and comment maybe once a week. I have a problem staying focused and before I know it I'm off looking up recipes or reading the news online. LoL So I try to do short spurts in the morning while I drink my coffee.

  19. Oh, no! Just reading this post title makes me feel guilty. I have gotten horrible at commenting. Not even commenting, but just visiting other people's blogs and keeping up with the blogging community. It makes me really sad :-( But at the same time, I know that things ebb and flow. Hopefully, all my friends are still here when I get back :-)

  20. having as many comments as you do I can imagine it is hard.

  21. I use a feedreader for blogs I love to follow and comment on. I leave the posts "unread" until I have time to comment. I try to do it 2-3 times per week, on my days off, but then they all build up and suddenly, I'm behind by 2 weeks!

    1. Yes a few days away now and I am all ....omg

  22. I don't get around to commenting on every post. I try to get to as many as possible, but I have a hard time keeping up. I use Bloglovin', but similar to what Jen said above. I keep posts as unread until I get a chance to visit. I try to at least stay within the same week, but as you can see, I got way behind with my trip to Atlanta. Life just gets in the way sometimes and that is okay. I'm sure you will have a lot of that now that you have the little one. :-)
