Tell me something Tuesday How do you keep up with your blog?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

This week's conversation starter:

May 16th: How do you keep up with your blog?
I keep it simple. I do not write long reviews, I do not take notes. It would be such a hassle honestly. So my reviews take no time at all. I sit down, I write them. I want them to be my thoughts for the moment, my feelings fresh in my mind. Even if I sometime leave them too long, which is bad. I really should write them within a day or I forget what I feel.

So the reviews are done fast, I have also come to realise that scheduling posts are awesome! It makes it so easier. There has been times when it has been stressful to get a post up in a hurry. Instead I can just schedule. I can recommend it.

And I answer comments whenever I am online ...ahem and watching tv. Yes I can not focus on just one thing. From there I make visits to other bloggers and then go visit those blogs I follow.

Then there are emails to keep up with *delete*.  Then there is the author posts and such to deal with, but that go fasst. I do not have many posts like that these days.

I have no idea if I have answered anything. I just keep it simple.

  1. I've simplified by posting less often and I don't really write reviews anymore but it still takes a lot of time.

  2. I sometimes see people note sheets shared on twitter for their upcoming reviews. I couldn't do it, that is too much like work. I also just sit down and write.

  3. I'm not sure I'd still be blogging if it wasn't for the magic of scheduling posts. Best thing.

I also have a schedule I follow, so I know what I need to put together and schedule for each week. It makes things so much simpler. And, of course, I've cut out all the contests - those were soooo time-consuming and stressful.

  4. I agree with you about the reviews, I need to write them soon after reading the ook otherwise I forget and I don't take notes either

  5. I try to keep it pretty simple too; like you, I'm a big fan of answering comments while watching TV. Note taking for my reviews is essential though, because otherwise I forget all the character's names before I sit down to write!

    1. Ha. I do tend to have goodreads open to remember names when I write

  6. Me too. It works for me. I do jot down some notes as I read though because I forget names as soon as I'm done lol

  7. I have to say that blogging is quite hard to keep up especially if you're working on a full time job, I sometimes ask myself how I was able to keep up lol. My work requires me to face the computer for 8 straight hours and working another 2-4 hours just to update my blog or network to other blogger sounds quite tedious to me sometimes especially that I have a little eye problem. But surprisingly, I love blogging so even if I'm tired or whatsoever, I always make time for blogging.

When it comes to book reviews, I always make sure to write then after reading so I wouldn't forget them the next day. I don't get hold of my computer or laptop 24/7 so I use my mobile phone to write some draft of my review and update them the next day or when I'm available in my computer.

Aside from reading, I also travels so it was really quite hard to keep up, haha, but I'm thankful I was able to handle all the pressure and still going strong with my blog :)

    1. It is just all worth it in the end :D But right now I do wonder how on earth I could keep up if I had not scheduled posts for the whole summer.

I wish I could write long texts o my phone, or even short, but eh, I want my laptoo

  8. Simple is good. I have a little routine that helps.

  9. I usually have 40-60 blog posts scheduled that way I can visit blogs that I follow and reply to comments.

  10. I agree, I cut back and went with simplicty. It makes it so much easier. I agree about writing reviews right away. It is so hard when they pile up!

  11. I so wish I can just write on the spur of the moment. It would certainly make my life easy. Sigh.

  12. Scheduling is great but I still write too long posts. You are my heroine, with your simple, easy, funny reviews! One day...;p

  13. It's my hobby so I don't mind spending time. That said, if I don't write my review immediately I will forget. So I do short, quick reviews - exactly what I want to read from other blogs. That's why I enjoy yours!

  14. I keep mine pretty simple as well :)

  15. Hi Blod, I like to keep it simple too and review right when I'm done reading. I also always start up a draft post of my current read so I can jot down my thoughts from time to time and save it for the final review post.

  16. You read so fast so I can image it is hard to get the motivation to write your review right away. I need to read faster or put more time into it now that I am graduated from College. Buuut so lazy.

  17. I have a very similar approach. I don't take any notes while reading (sometimes I think that I should be doing this). Sometimes, I do wait too long to write my reviews and that can be a problem. Scheduling posts is such a wonderful thing!

  18. I wish I could learn to keep things simple - I try to do what you do, and sit down to type all my thoughts out. But I tend to be long winded, if you couldn't tell already, lol! And boy, when I go on a rant...

  19. Keeping it simple works and I find I have to write my review straight away while its fresh, I rarely take notes either.

  20. I don't take notes either! I try to write a review soon after I read, though, because sometimes I just ignore the novel if my review has been sitting on be back-burner for too long. Great post, thanks for sharing!

  21. My blog is my hobby, and a big one at that. I make time each day to work on it. But I am super organized and have a GIANT spreadsheet and calendar to keep me organized.

  22. I write my review as soon as I am finished reading. I have found that his helps a lot. I do make notes as I go along as it makes my reviews that much easier to write. As for the scheduling of posts, that is a hit and miss for me just now. I am working on improving in that area.

    1. I did it now cos i have to, and I have found it works so well. But yes you have to have posts ready so before it was harder

  23. I wish I could keep things simple as well. It takes time for me to write a review (at least 3 hours or more) plus editing, etc. I take notes. A lengthy ones. Hehe
I don't do a lot of memes and haven't done lots of discussions. It gives me more time to reply to comments, social media, emails, etc, and most importantly, it gives me more time to read, though. I'm a slow reader, so I need like almost 2 days to finish a book.
So yeah, writing a review takes the longest time. Hehe

    Awesome discussion! :)

    1. Yikes! I could just not do that. Kudos to you!

I can do 3 books in a normal workweek, but more if I am on holiday so yse books take time to read

  24. LOL you do what works for you, right? I love scheduling ahead. But my reviews...I like all the words. ALL THE WORDS. Ha!

It maybe takes me 30-40 minutes per review writing, editing then formatting. But I'm always watching TV or something so get easily distracted so it takes more time. Hah

I tend to do that too ;)

  25. I use to be so good at this. But as of late... ugh, life's had me distracted for about a year now. I'm ready for life to relax and take a chill pill so I can get back to my normal routine. lol.
