A ghostly gift and Accidental Leigh

No problem jumping right into this with this novella. It worked great. I wanted something short and that I got.

Verity can see ghosts thanks to the ghost that stays with her.  They have a case to solve, and so they do.

Good little novella, and it made me curious about her ex and why she is seeing his brother. That sounds like quite the story.

Verity Long doesn't want to see ghosts, and she'd rather not let anyone know her little secret, either. But when a restless spirit stirs up trouble in her friend's resale shop, Verity and her very new, very dead gangster friend team up to learn what is really happening. They discover an age-old secret and must learn the truth behind a mysterious disappearance... before it's too late.

How does a girl become a witch? By accident, of course!

Leigh Epstein is a grief stricken and lonely elementary school teacher that is devastated by the brutal and unexpected death of her true love at the hands of a careless writer. She overcomes her grief by taking matters in her own hands and takes up a little romance writing to resurrect her vampire-werewolf book-boyfriend. Leigh gets more than she bargained for when she discovers that every steamy erotic scene she creates is magically reenacted by her family, friends and coworkers.

In her hilarious first diary, Leigh unwittingly sets her parents up for a weekend dinner party that they will never forget. She has two weeks to find out what her new found magic is capable of. Can she prevent a wild erotic encounter that could devastate her sweet parent’s marriage? What and who else will get caught up in her magic spells?

A bit of brainless fun. Ha, I enjoyed it.

Leigh gets a magical desk and writes hot sex scenes, but then they come true! And everything turns out wrong. Ha, yes it was pretty amusing.

It was a novella, I can roll with that and that is why I chose it. Short is good. I'd read more

PS. This is as close I will get to horror this October

So I married a demon slayer - anthology

Hot! by Kathy Love
At Hot! Magazine, the devil really does wear Prada. When the CEO is an actual demon and the mail room guys are undercover demon slayers, it's not beyond the realm of possibility for an up-and-coming photographer and a model possessed by much more than a sweet tooth to fall in love.

What Slays In Vegas by Angie Fox
When a sexy succubus comes up against a fearless demon slayer intent on killing her boss, a truly wild Vegas night turns into a quickie wedding. But in a city where anything goes, a demon slayer wedding a succubus is strictly forbidden. Which doesn't mean either is rushing to jump out of the marriage bed.

The Bride Wore Demon Dust by Lexi George
He's perfection in a tuxedo - more so out of it - and on a mission to protect his Alabama gal from the mysterious mayhem intent on her destruction. But the bride is a spunky steel magnolia with special powers of her own, determined to drop-kick evil forces across the state line and give her slayer a run for his money.

My thoughts:
3 stories, here we go

HOT! by Kathy Love
Why they did not tell him at once is one thing I wonder about. But hey it's about the drama and tension. But please people, oh you work for demons btw. How hard is that to say? But it was a fun short one, maybe I can only do pnr in small doses.

What Slays In Vegas by Angie Fox
Succubus meets demon slayer. Here I did not mind if it was lust quickly cos she is succubus and he paid for it ;) Fun.

I think PNR actually still works for me, BUT only if there is humour included. I so do NOT do the whole:

"You are my soul mate. We are destined for each other, and if we do not boink at once, I will wander the deserts alone. I will climb the holy mountain of MT NotBoinked, lay down and die. If you change your mind, or if your holy parts needs me, then You will find my rotten corps there and my still beating heart. To forget me you will have to lay down and die next to me, or eat my bloody heart and never love again."

Sheesh, drama much.

The Bride Wore Demon Dust by Lexi George
Ok so this guy was your typical alpha. "You hot, me hot. We boink". All while he was SO not in love with her, even though he was SO in love with her. But he was a tough warrior who does not feel love. But hey it was amusing.

3 fun stories. I was amused.

And look at me, finally going through the books that have been forever on my shelf, yay.

The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers - Angie Fox + short Mills and Boon review

Book 2  Demon slayer

Genre: Paranormal romance
Pages: 320
Published: 2009

Last month, I was a single preschool teacher whose greatest thrill consisted of color-coding my lesson plans. That was before I learned I was a slayer. Now, it's up to me to face curse-hurling imps, vengeful demons, and any other supernatural uglies that crop up. And, to top it off, a hunk of a shape-shifting griffin has invited me to Greece to meet his family.

But it's not all sun, sand, and ouzo. Someone has created a dark-magic version of me with my powers and my knowledge--and it wants to kill me and everyone I know. Of course, this evil twin doesn't have Grandma's gang of biker witches, a talking Jack Russell terrier, or an eccentric necromancer on its side. In the ultimate showdown for survival, may the best demon slayer win.

This one turned into a quickie since I really should review just after I read books, and this time I did not. Also it has been waiting on GoodReads to be published here too.

Plot:
Lizzy's uncle has been seduced by a succubus in Las Vegas and the gang set out to save him. But first she needs a demon slayer license and that will not be easy. And Dimitri sets out on his own. She has her hands full.

Characters:
Lizzy learned a whole lot of new tricks, Pirate was awesome, they found a new friend. Dimitri was rather elusive. The biker witches, oh they make this book. And the fairies were a nice touch to it.

Romance:
Not that much actually, but then when they finally get together it's wild.

Action:
Yes expect spells and demon kicking.

Bad things:
I don't know really, perhaps too little Pirate in it, what can I say I just love him. Oh and more hunky boyfriend.

Good things:
I do like the biker witches, they are awesome.

Final thoughts:
It was cute and fun.

Cover:
Kick-ass
Reason for reading: I got it from Staci if I am not totally mistaken :)

Since I already gave a quick review then why not another one today.

Her Royal Wedding Wish - Cara Colter

Genre: Contemporary romance
Pages: 192
Published: 2008

Princess Shoshauna of B'Ranasha has followed royal convention all her life. Her greatest wish is freedom—and to marry for love, not duty.

A royal assignment: Suddenly in danger, Shoshauna is whisked to an exotic island by soldier Jake Ronan. He's been hired to protect her, and despite the attraction makes it clear he's here for duty, not love….

Her wedding wish: Being with Jake, Shoshauna feels truly happy and free for the first time. But can she dream of herself, a royal, marrying this hardened soldier?

Plot:
A princess must hide and with her she has a hunky protector. She wants to be an ordinary woman, and he, well he has a hard time resting her.

Characters:
Princess Shoshauna of an island kingdom is innocent and protected. She doesn't want to marry but well she has too. She is curious and her strength grows.
Ronan is a touch soldier who has dealt with the worst that war brings but a sweet little princess is too much for him and he melts.

Romance:
Actually almost nothing. It's more her growth, him teaching her, and then some sweetness at the end.

Action:
Nope.

Bad things:
I did except at least some romance on that island, but he is a true gentleman.

Good things:
Quick, sweet and a book you just read without thinking.

Final thoughts:
They are like they always are. Sweet books with that HEA that no one doubts.

Cover: Cute
Reason for reading: Bought

Review: The Accidental Demon Slayer - Angie Fox

The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox

Genre: Paranormal romance
Pages: 292
Published: 2008

It’s never a good day when an ancient demon shows up on your toilet bowl…

For Lizzie Brown, that’s just the beginning. Soon her hyperactive terrier starts talking, and her long-lost biker witch Grandma is hurling Smuckers jars filled with magic. Just when she thinks she’s seen it all, Lizzie learns she’s a demon slayer – and all hell is after her.

Of course, that’s not the only thing after her. Dimitri Kallinikos, a devastatingly handsome shape-shifting griffin needs Lizzie to slay a demon of his own. But how do you talk a girl you’ve never met into going straight to the underworld? Lie. And if that doesn’t work, how dangerous could a little seduction be…?

Let me just first say that I love the dog Pirate, he is the bes part, funny, and always talking. And just look at the cutie there on the cover, I am not a dog person but I am a pirate gal.

Lizzie lives a normal live, she has a job, a home, friends, no man though, but as the is about to turn 30 she is ok with it all. Then she is contacted by her grandmother who she has never met, and suddenly there is a demon in her toilet and they are on the run. She is told she is a demon slayer and now they are out to kill her. What is a girl to do, run and fast. Her biker grandma, pirate and Lizzy heads down the road, where they soon will meet hunky Dimitri.

Lizzie is nice, and I like her. She is taking this demon slaying business as anyone would, not good, and that is understandable. Her grandma is crazy, who could not like an old biker chick who wears the clothes and listen to the music. The talking dog, well I do love him. Then there is Dimitri, a griffin, and a good looking man. All alpha, rough and I would sure fall into his arms. There is an attraction between Lizzy and him at once, and I sure like it.

I like the gang of biker witches, different and they fit the story. Then there are the werewolves, and gotta love those too. I am sure more paranormal beings will show up the next time. In this we see imps, water nymphs and of course demons. Nasty demons from hell and they should stay there.

Much action there is not, she is still learning and mostly trying to keep her head down. But there are some fighting. There is also hot romance, I promise you that. There are some laughs and funny situations promised. All in all a good book with a mix of everything, it will be fun to see what will happen in book 2. Lizzy and pirate is a good team, and I do wanna see more of Dimitri.

I would have liked to get more laughs since that would have fitted the book, but then again that is just me. It had the rest covered up.
