My Thoughts
I do like historical romance on audio, but urban fantasy I have discovered to work just as well. Some genres to seem to click more and get even better in audio. And this one certainly did just that.

Alex gets a new case. A dead body in Faerie and possible war if a killer is not caught. I never remember who I ship since the wait between books is usually quite long. So Faelan who? Stop crying over spilled milk, Dugan seems juicy! As it is no Alex is not dating anyone (still miss you Death!), Faelan and her, well they did have their fling and now she has to work with him since he is a knight and agent. And Dugan, is the Shadow Prince who hires her. And yes, I like him, I wish she could like him back *sighs*

Faerie is not easy to navigate through. Everyone has hidden agendas. The Winter Queen is a b*tch. The other regents are no better. Though Dugan's dad did seem ok. This is not just a murder investigation, there are toes that can not be stepped upon. Feathers that can not be ruffled. And there is a baddie in the wings trying to cause war (I did guess who quite easily, I wonder why they did not).

The narration is great, there is always something behind the corner so you keep listening to know more. Like I said, UF does seem to be great for audio.

The end promises more hardship to come, and I can't wait! Must have more.

Narrator
She does the voices well, everyone has their sound. It is easy to follow along. She keeps up the tension and speed. And she makes this to an enjoyable listen that has me clamoring for more.

Alex is still trying to come to terms with her changing powers and her growing ties to Faerie when a case she'd rather avoid falls right into her lap. A fae prince desperately needs Alex to investigate a politically sensitive murder. She reluctantly agrees to the case, taking FIB agent Falin Andrews along as her backup.

But as Alex begins to delve into the mystery, she realizes that the intricate web of alliances and intrigue in the Faerie courts is strained to its limits. War is about to break out, one that threatens to spill over into the mortal realm. This murder is tied right to the center of centuries-old arcane unrest, and if Alex isn't careful she may follow the twisting path ahead of her right into her grave end.

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

My thoughts:
My memory was a bit shaky. It was 1,5 years since I read book 4. My memory was shaky in that review too as the space between book 3 and 4 was 3 years. And that is why you have reviews! I also never felt lost for a second, the author is good at that.

I used to be so Team Death, quite sad, it seemed the time between book 3 and 4 changed that, and now again it changed. He is just so distant, and he is obviously dead. Not the best boyfriend material. Sorry girlfriend but you can do better *coughs Faelan coughs*.

Alex is a grave witch, she can speak with the dead, she can raise their shades. She know things about the dead that others do not. She is also Fae and learning about her new abilities. But she is not equipped to deal with zombies or what on earth are crawling around Necro at the moment.

Luckily she has friends, a distant boyfriend *hmpf* and a pesky agent that wants her help. She may not be physically kick-ass but she can do other things. And I like that, her powers leaves her so depleted that she goes blind. Not that that is a good thing! But it makes her human *wink wink*.

Conclusion:
I enjoyed this adventure and I am hungry for more.

Narrator Emily Durante
I think it was a good thing there was some time between my last visit to this world. Because after 4 books in print and then suddenly one in audio, well I might have had my own idea of her voice. But like it was now, Emily's voice is Alex and she does her well, and everyone else too. Though Death did sound very grim, oh the puns keep rolling off me today.

It was also my first audio UF and I like it. It works really well.

Grave Visions - Kalayna Price

If you want to hear voices from the dead in Nekros City, you call Alex Craft. She's a Grave Witch with reasonable rates and extraordinary powers, who specializes in revealing the secrets of the dead. But now she's the one fighting to keep her own secret. She's not human—and her newly discovered heritage is causing havoc for her both in the human realm and in Faerie. But her status as an unaffiliated fae also makes her an ideal candidate to investigate a new street drug that has surfaced in several of the spaces between the human and fae worlds.

This glamour-infused drug causes hallucinations that turn real—at least for a while and often with deadly consequences. Searching for the source of this drug—and its purpose—lands Alex front and center in the conflict brewing in Faerie and she must find answers before she's dragged so deep she loses her freedom.

My thoughts:
I am SO glad that you could just jump back into things cos my knowledge of book 3..or any book ...yikes, it was shaky at best..

Her hidden past.
I was all whaat?
She is Fae? Huh, did not remember that, but good to know. Lol, yes it was like the book was filled with new secrets and I never felt like I missed anything cos I could just read and be surprised.

She is a grave witch, ok that I did remember. She can talk to the dead. Yup.

Her Boyfriend is Death, I did not really like him. (damn it, *reading old review from 4 years back, I used to have a crush on him! Woe is me*

Falin, some guy sent to spy on her is hot. (damn it! I used to think he was just a pretty boy according to that last review)

I obviously went from Team Death to Team Falin. *shrugs* It happens. Since all I remember of any of them is from this book.

Oh I forgot, the actual storyline. A bad drug is causing deaths. She is on the case. The Fae wants her to pick a court. A friend is getting married. Her dad has plans. Something was always happening and then it ended and I need more...a bit quicker this time hopefully.

Conclusion:
Good to be back!

Review: Grave Memory - Kalayna Price

As a Grave Witch, Alex solves murders by raising the dead—an ability that comes at a cost, and after her last few cases, that cost is compounding. But her magic isn’t the only thing causing havoc in her life. While she’s always been on friendly terms with Death himself, things have recently become a whole lot more close and personal. Then there’s her sometime partner, agent Falin Andrews, who is under the glamour of the Winter Queen. To top everything off, her best friend has been forever changed by her time spent captive in Faerie.

But the personal takes a backseat to the professional when a mysterious suicide occurs in Nekros City and Alex is hired to investigate. The shade she raises has no memory of the days leading up to his brutal ending, so despite the very public apparent suicide, this is murder. But what kind of magic can overcome the human will to survive? And why does the shade lack the memory of his death? Searching for the answer might mean Alex won’t have a life to remember at all…

My thoughts:
Just because I have a crush on Death this is how I am gonna start:

'O, Death. O, Death.
Won't you spare me over 'til another year?
Well, what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands takin' hold of me
Well I am death, none can excel
I'll open the door to heaven or hell'
-traditional

Yes he is one of those big crushes cos he is always just there, staring. While Falin is a stupid pretty boy Fae. I am team Death in this one.

Anyway, Alex has a new case. The ghosts are being all weird. So she is investigating. Trying to keep a check on Faerie, and spending some time with her friends. Oh and then there is the whole Falin and Death thing.

I do wonder what she will do about her Fae heritage, which court she will choose, will she find happiness? All questions I really want answers too. But the author is not making it easy for her. Not at all.

Conclusion:
As the next book is not out yet I will sit here waiting cos I want more.

Review: Grave Dance - Kalayna Price

Whoever said dead men tell no tales obviously never met Alex Craft.

After a month spent recovering from a vicious fight with a sorcerer, grave witch Alex Craft is ready to get back to solving murders by raising the dead. With her love life in turmoil thanks to the disappearance of Fae Investigation Bureau agent Falin Andrews and a shocking “L” word confession from Death himself, Alex is eager for the distractions of work. But her new case turns out to be a deadly challenge.

The police hire Alex to consult on a particularly strange investigation in the nature preserve south of Nekros City. The strange part: There are no corpses, only fragments of them. A serial killer is potentially on the loose, and Alex has no way to raise a shade without a body, so she’ll have to rely on the magic of others to find leads. But as she begins investigating, a creature born of the darkest magic comes after her. Someone very powerful wants to make sure the only thing she finds is a dead end—her own.

My thoughts:
Was it as good as book 1? Truth be told I do not remember, I just felt I needed to read this one. And even if this one was not awesome, I still want book 3.

Alex is a cool witch, she also has hidden talents that comes to play here. I like secret pasts.

Falin, oh I do not know, I do not like him all the time. He is not the man I want for her.

Death, I mean I read this for him, I love him *swooooooons*.

Conclusion:
Now where was I? I do not have a lot to say about this book, I swooned over Death, I liked Fairy Land, I do want more. But...it felt messy at times.

Over at Alternative Read today

Go on over and read my review of Grave Witch by Kalayna Price

Grave witch Alex Craft can speak to the dead, but that doesn’t mean she likes what they have to say . . .

As a private investigator and consultant for the police, Alex Craft has seen a lot of dark magic. But even though she’s on good terms with Death himself—who happens to look fantastic in a pair of jeans—nothing has prepared her for her latest case. Alex is investigating a high profile murder when she’s attacked by the ‘shade’ she’s raising, which should be impossible. To top off her day, someone makes a serious attempt on her life, but Death saves her. Guess he likes having her around . . .

To solve this case Alex will have to team up with tough homicide detective Falin Andrews. Falin seems to be hiding something—though it’s certainly not his dislike of Alex—but Alex knows she needs his help to navigate the tangled webs of mortal and paranormal politics, and to track down a killer wielding a magic so malevolent, it may cost Alex her life .
