Audio Review: So over you - Kate Meader

Three estranged sisters struggle to sustain their late father’s failing hockey franchise in Kate Meader’s sizzling Chicago Rebels series. In this second entry, middle sister Isobel is at a crossroads in her personal and professional lives. But both are about to get a significant boost with the addition of a domineering Russian powerhouse to the Rebels....

Isobel Chase knows hockey. She played NCAA, won Olympic silver, and made it thirty-seven minutes into the new National Women’s Hockey League before an injury sidelined her dreams. Those who can’t, coach, and a position as a skating consultant to her late father’s hockey franchise, the Chicago Rebels, seems like a perfect fit. Until she’s assigned her first job: the man who skated into her heart as a teen and relieved her of her pesky virginity. These days, left-winger Vadim Petrov is known as the Czar of Pleasure, a magnet for puck bunnies and the tabloids alike. But back then... let’s just say his inability to sink the puck left Isobel frustratingly scoreless.

Vadim has a first name that means “ruler,” and it doesn’t stop at his birth certificate. He dominates on the ice, the practice rink, and in the backseat of a limo. But a knee injury has produced a bad year, and bad years in the NHL don’t go unrewarded. His penance? To be traded to a troubled team where his personal coach is Isobel Chase, the woman who drove him wild years ago when they were hormonal teens. But apparently the feeling was not entirely mutual.

That Vadim might have failed to give Isobel the pleasure that was her right is intolerable, and he plans to make it up to her—one bone-melting orgasm at a time. After all, no player can perfect his game without a helluva lot of practice...

My thoughts:
I wanted this book ever since finishing book 1, luckily that was not that far ago. There was a story there and I knew there would be trouble.

Isabel and Vadim have a past. Then he becomes The Rebel's new player. Yay drama!

Isabel was nice and driven But yes with issues since she wanted to play too but a previous injury made her a coach instead. And she has dad issues, but then their dad was a piece of work.

Vadim was...I want to say player, but hey when he meets Isabel again it's like boom, no more. Women? What women? So we only hear that he was a player. He is rich, handsome, and with mommy issues. And I totally get why, poor boy.

They meet. They bicker and I wait until the explosion happens. Cos we all know all that tension is gonna erupt like the volcano it is.

I like this series.
First, the couples are great.
Second omg the things the author writes, it makes me lol. She is so witty.
Third, I love listening to it. I enjoy it so much more this way. You have to hear the witty things so you can giggle.
Fourth, the side characters! I am dying for more! Dante's romance. And Violet and Bren who has been glaring for 2 books now.

Another good one. Drama. Romance. Passion and Ice. I look forward to more

Narrator Pippa Jayne
I really like how she narrates this series. Is a Russian accent hot..eh, nyet. Russians are not friends, but I will forgive that for this book ;)
So yes she does a great job and I really feel this is a series best listened too.

Audio Review: Irresistible you - Kate Meader

Harper Chase has just become the most powerful woman in the NHL after the death of her father Clifford Chase, maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels. But the team is a hot mess—underfunded, overweight, and close to tapping out of the league. Hell-bent on turning the luckless franchise around, Harper won’t let anything stand in her way. Not her gender, not her sisters, and especially not a veteran player with an attitude problem, a chip on his shoulder, and a smoldering gaze designed to melt her ice-compacted defenses.

Veteran center Remy “Jinx” DuPre is on the downside of a career that’s seen him win big sponsorships, fans’ hearts, and more than a few notches on his stick. Only one goal has eluded him: the Stanley Cup. Sure, he’s been labeled as the unluckiest guy in the league, but with his recent streak of good play, he knows this is his year. So why the hell is he being shunted off to a failing hockey franchise run by a ball-buster in heels? And is she seriously expecting him to lead her band of misfit losers to a coveted spot in the playoffs?

He’d have a better chance of leading Harper on a merry skate to his bed…

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

My thoughts:
Oh I really enjoyed listening to this one on audio. Like really liked it. At the end I had this goofy grin on my face. Before that shocked, giggly,oh you know it, I am glad I did not meet anyone, I must have looked so silly through out this entire book.

It is just something about sports romance, and hey hockey is always good. So I dove straight into this one.

Harper has a lot to prove, to herself, to her dead father, to the world. A woman CAN run a sports franchise.  A woman is not controlled by her emotions. She was strong, yet vulnerable. Way too stubborn when it comes to love and I just liked her.

In comes Remy. The one who will save this crap team from going under. And the one that can break her reputation since he is OH so fine and those sparks will put the world on fire.

I did like the do not go there thing, it was bad news in so many ways. But they were SO good together. He was so sweet, and I melted. I must say, Pippa sure made his voice sound fine too. I totally forgot it was a woman narrating that voice.

Conclusion:
I would love to listen to more in this series. Awesome.

Narrator Pippa Jayne
Well the credit in s many ways must certainly go to her. For me personally she brought it to another level. I needed more from these two. I needed to know how it ended. I liked her voices for both and they fitted so perfectly. I am pretty sure this one worked so much better in audio for me. Sports romance in audio rocks.

Playing with fire - Kate Meader

As the only female firefighter at Engine Co. 6, Alexandra Dempsey gets it from all sides: the male Mr. Mayor has other ideas... coworkers who think she can't do the job, the wives and girlfriends who see her as a threat to their firefighter men, and her overprotective foster brothers who want to shelter their baby sister at all costs. So when she single-handedly saves the life of Eli Cooper, Chicago's devastatingly handsome mayor, she assumes the respect she's longed for will finally come her way. But it seems

Eli Cooper's mayoral ratings are plummeting, his chances at reelection dead in the water. When a sexy, curvaceous firefighter gives him the kiss of life, she does more than bring him back to the land of the living--she also breathes vitality into his campaign. Riding the wave of their feel-good story might prop up Eli's flagging political fortunes, but the sizzling attraction between them can go nowhere; he's her boss, and there are rules that must be obeyed. But you know what they say about rules: they're made to be broken...

My thoughts:
Oh this was a hot one! And I really felt the chemistry between these two, it sizzled off the pages.

Alexandra is a firefighter, she has lots of foster brothers, and she is a serial dater. She does want to find the one, but men suck. She also has a mouth on her and says what she thinks. When she meets Eli, sparks fly. She mouths off and riles him up.

Eli is the mayor if Chicago, and he does have a thing for her. But mostly he likes to argue with her and their arguing is the best. It really shows the chemistry. I was all just get down and dirty at once!

There will be some drama, that is obvious from, well you will see. But hey I also know it will blow over soon and they will live happily ever after. Until then it was fun to see them fall in love, when they both believed this would blow over.

I read it in one sitting.
