I biked a lot....

........................................

It's 2202 and three ships are on their way to start a new colony, but the twelve-month trip on Earth Ship Siren is filled with its own dangers ... and desires.

Rita Songworth escaped the dying Earth by earning her place on the ES Siren as part of the hard-assed infantry. But her relationship with the malicious lieutenant Zane was doomed almost before it began, unlike her attraction to the gorgeous and highly forbidden prisoner, Tristan MacFallan.

Alex Tariel knew his only chance to get a place on ES Siren was as a prisoner, so he stole water rations. Instead of keeping his head down, he gets coerced into fighting in the rounds. Getting patched up by Sienna makes it worthwhile. Corporal Sienna Jade never expected to see with the man who tried to kill her again. Now Lieutenant Zane has her and Alex in his sights. While Sienna tries to keep control of her feelings for Alex, Alex would do anything to protect her, if only she'd let him.

When Lily Kwan does a dirty deal with the disgusting Andrew Zane, she shoots straight to the top of Master Sergeant Connor Madison's hit list of drug runners – and no one's tougher than the Siren's hard-eyed quartermaster. Nothing can save the geeky doctor now, not her family's money, nor her brilliant mind. Not even the smile in her eyes.

My thoughts:
The first story is about Rita, a prison guard who falls for a prisoner. Also while having an affair with an ahole. Zane was a real piece of work. And then Rita and Tristan lived happily ever after..well for now, they are in space after all.

So yes 3 ships are making their way to a new planet because earth is going to hell. Ships filled with soldiers, prisoners to do the work, and rich people. The sci.fi, yeah, not a lot of sci-fi. Except for a few things mentioned like the cuffs worn, or how meds work fast. This is romance through and through. Romance and smexy times. And they are all under 100 pages.

The next story is about Alex, another prisoner and Sienna, the doctor in training who finds him hot and decides to do him. Seriously, this is happening a lot, I find it rather creepy. He is a prisoner, and even if he wants to it is wrong. There should be limits on this ship but I guess not. I mean, if she wants it, he would say yes even if he did not want it. The female prisoners are all selling themselves. Anyway....And then they lived happily ever after, and evil Zane is on this one too. I hope he dies soon.

The last one was about Lily who also got in trouble with Zane. Seriously women, stay away from that a-hole. She was the one I liked the most. Her man, hmmm, well at least he was not a prisoner!

Conclusion;
I would love to see them all on their new planet. That would be interesting. This was just a bunch of couple falling in love quickly and doing it.

Still good. Even if I did not always approve of their partners (guilty or not.)

Author Interview and Giveaway: Shona Husk

1. Welcome back Shona! Tell me something fun that has happened in the last 6 months or so? :)
In August I spent 2.5 weeks travelling around New Zealand (and going to the Romance Writers of New Zealand conference). I’d never been there before so it was great to have a look around I also got to try snowboarding and skiing for the first time (there’s no snow in Perth, Western Australia where I live).

I’ve also signed a with Escape Publishing for a four book contemporary series set in Fremantle, Australia which will kick off next year. 2015 is shaping up to be pretty busy :)

2. And now tell us about your new book, To Love a King.
To Love a King is the book that I knew would happen the first time Felan walked onto the page in The Outcast Prince. Readers have been waiting for his story and it has all the drama of the fairy court of Annwyn along with the heart of his ongoing romance with Jacqui. This is their second chance and after the disastrous time they had seven years ago they really deserve a HEA…but when fairies are involved nothing is easy and everything has a price.

3. I know it's a trilogy but, any chance of more Annwyn stories?
Well it’s not really a trilogy anymore as I did a 2.5 novella, The Changeling Soldier
I’m also excited to say there will be 3 more Annwyn stories next year, but they are set in the mortal world in the aftermath of the fairy war…they are more of a second trilogy as they have their own story arc. Book 4 is The Darkling Lord:

4. Tell us a bit about Annwyn so we get to know the world?
Annwyn is where the fairies live. It is part of the afterlife and the fairies control it and thus where the human souls go. There is a creepy river full of the doomed souls and a mysterious place over the river that is shrouded in mist. The magic of Annwyn is tied to the King and Queen so in To Love a King the magic is failing and Annwyn is in winter. Only a new King and Queen can bring spring back to Annwyn. What we also see is the way the fairies are altered by the change in seasons. In winter not only their clothing changes to darker colors but they become colder and more calculating (after Lord of the Hunt who’d have thought that possible?).

It is a great world to write in as what happens in Annwyn also affects our world so I get to tie the two together. Winter in Annwyn brings plagues to our world which have devastating effects.

5. Are you working on something right now?
I’m busy working on Annwyn #5 Singer of Death and also book 2 of my contemporary series (I’d love to share the titles but they haven’t been confirmed yet). If readers would like information on my new releases you can join my newsletter:

Thanks!!

It took years for Jacqueline Ara to put her life back together after Felan abandoned her. She’s moved on, even if her heart still burns for him. Author Interview and Giveaway: Shona Husk

Today I am interviewing Shona Husk and giving away her new book Lord of the Hunt.

1. Tell me about yourself.
Shona: I’m now a full time author (yay!). I love dark chocolate, and cooking especially with chocolate, to counteract the chocolate I also like running and swimming :). My to be read pile is constantly shifting and never shrinking (I promise at the start of every year to reduce the size yet somehow the size never changes).

2. Your new book is called Lord of the Hunt. Tell me about the book too :)
Shona: Lord of the Hunt is Verden’s story. He is the Lord of the Hunt and answers only to the King, making him the second most powerful man in Annwyn. To get there he played hard and took down the old Hunter…however now he’s been there for a few centuries he’s finding the view isn’t as grand as he should but he can’t quite figure out what is missing as no fairy would be stupid enough to gamble with their heart and fall in love.

Then Taryn shows up seeking a pardon for her father and what starts out as protecting her from the viciousness of Court becomes something much more dangerous.

Taryn was a great heroine to write. She starts out as a fish out of water and ends up with great personal power—something she doesn’t want, unlike every other fairy. That’s about all I can say without giving away spoilers.

3. Will there be more books in the series?
Shona: The Changeling Soldier is a novella that will be out mid-year, and book three in the series, To Love a King, will be out in October. The Changeling Soldier is a romance between a fairy on her way home before the power shift and a man just learning about his fairy heritage. There are some tough choices to be made before they can be together.

To Love a King is Felan’s story! (I know some people have been waiting for this). To claim the throne of Annwyn and save two worlds he’ll first have to win Jacquie’s heart, again. Hopefully they can get their relationship right the second time around ;)

4. Is there a genre you have not tried but would like to explore?
Shona: Last year I started writing sci-fi romance, which is a lot of fun and something that I really wanted to try. If I had a great idea I wouldn’t hesitate to try something new—at the moment I’m not planning on trying a new genre. However I often experiment with different things as it’s fun for me, but it also helps me grow as a writer.

5.  What is coming next from you?
Shona: I have a busy couple of months coming up. Temptation on a Bottle will be out soon, and then over the next few months I have a couple of erotic sci-fi romances coming out with Ellora’s Cave: Lunar Reunion and Lunar Dancer (set in the same world as Lunar Exposure). And mid 2014 The Changeling Soldier (an Annwyn novella will be out).

Thanks!

No matter how much he may love Taryn, the Hunter knows that abandoning his duty could bring down the mortal world forever...

My thoughts:
Verden is Lord of the Hunt, poor thing, I did feel sorry for him later on in the book when I realized that he is not truly free in a way. He does his job and guards Annwyn and looks after the mortal world.

Taryn is a fairy who grew up in the mortal world. Now she is a court to plead for her parent's life and she will do anything to get what they want---To be back. She had a great spirit and I liked her.

These two should not fall in love, he has his duties and she should focus on her quest at hand. Later on you will see why they should have let it be as things evolve. But passion can't be stopped.

I look forward to the next book when the prince finds love :D

Conclusion:
Passion, court intrigues and two lovers caught up in the middle of it all.

Author interview and giveaway: Shona Husk and The Outcast prince

Today I am interviewing Shona Husk and giving away a copy of her new book, The Outcast prince.

Welcome!

1. Tell me 3 strange things about yourself...
Shona: I love the smell of coffee but not the taste. I have a seahorse tattoo and I don’t like horror films as I scare easy.

2. Your new book, The Outcast Prince is out now, could you tell us a little about it?
Shona: The Outcast Prince is the first in a series about the fairy court of Annwyn and the interaction between the fairy world and our world. Caspian is the outcast prince, a changeling with psychometry who has spent his life avoiding all things fairy, but he gets dragged into court politics and is forced to act when the woman he’s just started seeing is threatened. It’s set in Charleston and there’s a haunted house, a fairy mirror and a trip to Annwyn.

3. What was the inspiration behind this new series?
Shona: I’ve always liked the old concept of fairies, they are the old gods and should be feared and respected. They don’t have the same moral compass as humans and love deals and games and plotting the downfall of their enemies. But the idea for the series came from a conversation about what mazes are made of with my kids which lead to what would become book 2. Caspian, a hero I’d had in my mind for a while, became the hero of book 1 and then it all came together.

4.  How many more books can we expect in this series?
Shona: There are two more planned at the moment both of which will be released in 2014, but I’d like to write a few more that look at the banished fairies and what they get up to.

5. Now to the good stuff, could you tell us something about Caspian?
Shona: Caspian was a different kind of hero for me, while he’s been burned by love before (he is divorced) he isn’t tormented and dark. He is however very secretive because of what he is. He can’t tell people that he’s half fairy and he can’t easily explain his psychometry. When he loses his soul things get even more difficult for him.

6. And last, is there any genre you would love to explore still?
Shona: I’ve just started exploring sci-fi romance, which is a lot of fun. I’d love to write a time slip novel one day but at the moment I’m fairly busy.

Thanks!

Review: The Outcast Prince - Shona Husk

Caspian Mort can feel the history in anything he touches, a gift he inherited from his father, the Crown Prince of Annwyn. Devastated over his ex-wife's infidelity, Caspian has withdrawn from human contact except when working as an antiques dealer.

While assessing the contents of the historic Callaway House he encounters the beautiful Lydia Callaway and senses that her home is haunted by a banished fairy. But what does the dangerous exile want? Unbeknownst to Lydia, she's the owner of the last remaining portal to Annwyn—a mirror hidden somewhere in the house. To keep Lydia safe, Caspian will have to divulge the secrets of his heritage, and risk losing his heart again.

Paperback, 320 pages, Published July 2nd 2013 by Sourcebooks Casablanca, Court of Annwyn #1, Paranormal romance, For review

My thoughts:
I read her Goblin series and when I saw that she was to publish a series with fairies I was intrigued. I liked what I heard about Annwyn, it was the not so kind Fae types. ..

Caspian is a changeling and has never been to his father's court. He is human, but still got those fae qualities too. I must confess that I sooo wanted his father's story while I read it, to see him fall in love. Le sigh, wonderful :) But that is a future book. Now we got Caspian and he falls for Lydia. A nice and sweet woman. They suited each other. Both with pasts and secrets.

But that was not all it was about. We need some drama and danger too and in comes the hunt for a mirror. And the court of Annwyn is in trouble and the ripples are causing bad things to happen in our world. I can't spill it all, but Annwyn was different, and I liked what she did there.

Conclusion:
Romance and a man caught between two worlds. A good start to this series.

Interview and Giveaway: Shona Husk - For the love of a goblin warrior

Welcome :) Today I have Shona Husk over for an interview and I will be giving away her new book.

1. Who is Shona Husk?
SH: Author, mother, civil designer, dark chocolate lover...I wear a lot of hats like most people :)

2.  Could you tell me about your new book For the Love of the Goblin Warrior?
SH: For the Love of the Goblin Warrior is Meryn’s story. He gave into the curse and has been living as a goblin in the Shadowlands for nearly two thousand years. Now he is free and back in our world he has some decisions to make. It’s a story of redemption and healing as well as seeing how a Celtic warrior adapts to modern society and while he has help from Nadine she has her own issues to deal with—including learning the truth about her mother’s death.

3.  How did you decide that goblins were the ones to write about?
SH: I had been writing Vampires, but then I decided I wanted to write something different. Goblins were a 2am idea that took hold. I’ve always liked Beauty and the Beast, and in this case the hero was truly hideous to look at, getting the heroine to see past the exterior and into the Goblin King’s heart was a challenge. As I was writing the first book I knew what the next two were and how the trilogy would end.

4. And how did you manage to make them sexy? ;)
SH: Because the heroine finds the hero attractive, the reader can as well. It’s through her eyes we see the hero and discover there is more to him than being a goblin. I think it is also because of the heroine that the hero can see himself as more than a goblin. Certainly in For the Love of a Goblin Warrior it is Nadine that helps Meryn realize that if he wants to be human, and all that entails, he has to fight for it and become a better person, instead of half goblin.

5. Who is your favorite lost Celtic warrior so far?
SH: Ohhh, that is such a hard question. That’s like asking me to pick my favorite child. I liked them all for very different reasons. Roan was such a doomed king and yet he kept fighting. Dai was tortured and dark, and far more powerful than he realized. But Meryn has heart—he knows what love is and even though he’s been terribly wounded before he isn’t afraid to try again.

6. What is coming next from you?
SH: In July 2013, I have a new series starting with The Outcast Prince (Annwyn #1). This series is about the fairy rulers of the underworld. But between now and then I also have some novellas out, Dark Secrets (weird west with magic and guns and a hero with an unusual profession), Ruby’s Ghost which is a new adult book about a young man caught between life and death, and an erotic sci-fi romance called Lunar Exposure.

Review: For the Love of a Goblin Warrior - Shona Husk

Centuries ago, Meryn was thought to be utterly lost--all traces of his soul given up to the ravening goblin horde. But with the curse that enslaved him now broken, he must once again learn to walk in the realm of men.

Nurse Nadine Gilbert likes working the night shift to avoid her disturbing dreams, but her mysterious new patient looks hauntingly familiar. Meryn knows he doesn't deserve a second chance, but Nadine brings out his long-buried human side. Telling her the truth about his violent past could destroy their fragile trust. Could she ever believe in the love of a Goblin Warrior?

My thoughts:
This book felt light and easy, even with the darkness in it. It was a romance about two people being saved by each other.

Meryn used to be a Goblin who stole gold and killed. Now he is back int he real world, 2000 years later. He is lost, but he is smart. He mourns in family, and the darkness of the Goblin hangs over him. But he is a nice guy, a man who just want to live again..if there was something to live for.

Nadine is a nurse who have nightmares (yes goblins there too). He father is in jail for killing her mother and she has blocked that out. She may go on about her life, but there is something there. Something sad. Then Nadine and Meryn meet. Something pulls them together. They are meant to be. But first they have things to go through. He needs to let go of his past and she needs to deal with her past. Not to mention that you know the whole Goblin thing is gonna pop up and mess things up.

Conclusion:
A good romance, 2 people just meant to be. Throw in a little paranormal and there you have it.

Review: Kiss of the Goblin Prince - Shona Husk

Trapped for centuries in the bleak Shadowlands, Dai clings to his humanity with a thirst for knowledge. But now he's free of the goblin curse, and some would say he knows too much—he can make nature bend to his will, influence the minds of others, and command magic. Yet love eludes him. Then he meets Amanda, a single mother with a sick daughter whom he feels compelled to protect. But could she possibly place her trust in the kiss of a goblin prince?

Series: Shadowlands #2, Pages: 352, Genre: Paranormal romance, Published: May 1st 2012 by Sourcebooks Casablanca, Source: For review

My thoughts:
I liked book 1 because it was a bit different, a goblin hero..and they ain't pretty, I'll tell you that. But in this book the curse is broken and we have a new hero, Dai. He may be human again but life is not easy.

Oh Dai, I wanted his story already in book 1 and here I got it. He is all things I want my hero to be, that's right, tortured and hurting. He feels that he can't let go of his horrid past and all the things done to him. He is suffering and he is just the kind of man you want to hug and tell that everything will be ok. Because he is also loyal, kind and good with kids. He is not that alpha when I think about it, he always shadowed his brother. He is the magician, the scholar, the beta, and I really liked that.

The story is a lot about he trying to come to terms with things, being human, the magic he can now use, and falling for a woman, Amanda. The lovestory is not rushed at all, another thing I liked as you do not need to jump in bed at once. Like I said, he has suffered and Amanda is a widow. They dance around each other for a while and think about if they want to pursue this. Yes, things should take time.

We also meet the hero of book 3 briefly in this book and I do want his story too, especially if the book is as good as this one was. At times I could not put it down because I felt for Dai and there are things going on too, that I cannot mention. All making it exciting at times.

Conclusion:
Who knew a former Goblin could be a hottie?! I liked the book and the series should keep on getting better and better.

Review: The Goblin King - Shona Husk

Series: Shadowlands #1
Genre: Paranormal romance
Pages: 352
Published: October 1, 2011
Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca
Source. For review

Cursed by a Druid millennia ago, Roan lives a bleak existence in the Shadowlands, desperately trying to retain his soul and not succumb to the goblin horde. When a beautiful human summons him to grant a wish, he sees a glimmer of hope. But will she ever agree to be his queen?

My thoughts:
Ok so the guy on the cover might not look much like our hero, he has got dreads and when he is a goblin he is all icky, but then this can be how he looks at the end :)

Anyway, to the story! Roan lives in the shadowlands, a horrible place of nightmares. He is cursed and has been for 2000 years. He used to be a good king, but now he is a man whose greed might make him into the goblins he hate. He is loosing little by little to the curse. But there is something there, and sure at times in the beginning I thought he was a bit too alpha idiot, but I still could not look away.

Eliza, the deal that annoyed me there for a moment was how fast she fell, but come on, this is a romance after all. So I went along with that, cos in the end, Roan is a hottie, he is alpha, and he is a mighty warrior. Eliza has grown weak and scared. She is being bullied by her idiotic fiance and even though she has everything her lives sucks. She just wants out. And when these two meet, a woman who needs something more, and a man who needs help fighting his demons, well you can guess what happens. Flames of passion and lots of drama.

Because life is not easy. She has her ass of a fiance. He has not much time left to live with his fading human soul. The goblin is taking over. They are doomed from the start, but they still can't stay away from each other.

It was the goblins, the curse and the world that did it for me. It was good, and I also really liked his brother Dai. When the book ended I kind of wanted a book with him too, must be because he was a nerd. I do like nerds, and since this is book 1 then fingers crossed that Dai is getting that book.

Conclusion:
All in all a good book that had me reading fast, I enjoyed the romance and the passion they shared. It was a fairytale happy ever after with goblins, fights and the will to love.

Good
