My Thoughts
I loved this series, but I also fear that I had forgotten most when I picked up this book. It had already ended with book 8, and then years later we get a surprise new book. I do not even remember which team I was on!

But, I felt the spark was missing. What I got was one liners, zings and then kept on coming. Like all the time! You are about to die a horrible death, better get that witty comment on! It was a bit too much as you can imagine.

And Secret did not feel like Secret. She was a witty monster who cared more for her friends than her husband. She only speaks with him on the phone, she comes back to NY, but visits friends first and then thinks ok maybe I can see him for a little while. Poor guy, I say he deserves better than to be the second thought of someone. When I think about it it feels like the author is building up to a divorce. He loves her, she does not care about him anymore so she gets someone else.

And he wants to turn her, which I so get! She is a hazard to herself. Sure you have learned to fight but come on, someone could snap your neck any second. Just turn wolf already.

All her old buddies come together, except her poor hubbie and there is a battle. The end.

Yes I felt the spark was missing, yes I had thoughts. It was still good and light, but it did not feel like Secret. It felt like any UF heroine doing her rounds. I miss the old Secret and the charm of everyone. Or am I just nostalgic?

But the best part as Harold. Dang, I loved Harold! I could take his witty lines. More Harold please. Harold saved this book and made it good.

Synopsis
Secret McQueen has been many things in her life: head of the Vampire Tribunal, werewolf queen twice over, bounty hunter, fighter, lover. She's been the hunter and the hunted. Hell, she even died once.

One thing she never thought she'd be, however, was a normal human. Because "normal" was never a word to apply to her.

Now, Secret's a former vampire/werewolf-hybrid living in a human's body. She continues to answer the call of the supernatural, working for an elite FBI special unit designed to help the general public accept the existence of the creatures that used to only be found in nightmares. She's happily married to the man of her dreams.

But when her old vampire mentor Sig goes missing, and her former beau Holden Chancery comes calling for help, Secret will be pulled out of her new sunny existence and sent back into the nightlife she once knew so well.

She'll find herself asking if there's any room for humanity in a world full of monsters.

And she might find there's more than a little monster left in her, still.

Thunder Road - Sierra Dean

Being Chosen was supposed to be a gift.

That’s what Tallulah Corentine’s parents told her when they handed her over to the Rain Chasers on her seventh birthday. It was an honor to be born with a destiny, to be hand selected by the gods before taking her first breath. She should be overjoyed.

Twenty years later, Tallulah is still waiting for the gift. She might have the power of the storm at her fingertips, but she’s spent her whole adult life living under a cloud.

A cross-country trip to find the wayward son of Seth, god of the storm, turns into a fight for her life when she dupes Death out of a valuable treasure. With only a wily con man, a dangerously handsome bad-luck priest, and a lot of lightning to help her, can she deliver the package and keep herself out of an early grave?

Or will Seth be looking for a new Rain Chaser before it’s all over?

My thoughts:
I liked this world of Gods, at first I was a bit... just those goods? But it seems Gods are known by different names in different places but still the same god, so the big one here is known as a few other things too. And I just like Gods, I do!

But, yes our world, just with many more real Gods. And people being born to serve those Gods. Like Tallulah, and poor her. She never stood a chance. She was born with the sign and given to serve Seth. There are rules and she goes around delivering thunder to those who pay tithes, and some are just after revenge. But one good thing was that after she brings forth some thunder and lighting, she must sleep and eat and oh how I would eat everything without gaining anything...oh the little things to focus at. Lol. My mind drifts, back to business.

To the point then. She must find someone, she must stay alive as others are after her, and she fancies someone. Danger, a bit of passion, thunder and meddling Gods. There is a lot to handle.

Conclusion:
A fun start to a new series, an interesting world and nice characters.

We don't need another hero - Sierra Dean

The city of Gold Bay once had a great champion in local superhero Apollo. But after his brutal defeat at the hands of The Scourge, the citizens have been left to the villainous whims of a madman.

When young reporter Rebecca “Bex” Beckett returns home to care for her sick father, the last thing she expects is his request that she play caretaker to his shut-in employer, Camden Nash. Cam is not the same man Bex remembers from ten years earlier. Once a pinnacle of society, he is now a broken shell of his former self. Yet something is simmering between them.

As Bex becomes interested in the elusive mayor of Gold Bay, Simon Nerezza, Cam must rally to become the hero he once was in order to protect Bex from Nerezza’s dark past. But Bex is no damsel in distress. She has a trick or two up her own sleeve, and things in the city on the bay around about to get super hot.

Contains a grumpy has-been hero, a fiery heroine who is too hot to handle, and a villain who’d love nothing more than to have them both in the palm of his hand.

My thoughts:
This is a novella, it does have a solid ending. It never felt too short, but still, I do hope there will be more books in this world. It's interesting.

This is a world with superheroes, and villains. Some have taken over cities. Some protect cities. And in one The Scorch rule.

Bex was pretty cool, and since this is the 50s (aye set in those olden days), she has it tough making it as a journalist. Men are so stupid!

Cam, oh he was grumpy!...and I fell for him cos he was so grumpy! He was also very obvious *lallalala*

They dance around each other, but that is not really what the story is about. No, Bex wants to tell the world that this city is rotten. Cam needs to face his demon. And I enjoyed the ride.

Conclusion:
Short, but nice.

Early Review: Night Moves - Sierra Dean

Holden Chancery has the world in the palm of his hand. He's an editor for GQ, a celebrated photographer is featuring his portrait in a gallery show, and he can have any woman he wants.

Too bad the woman he wants would rather see him dead.

Now Holden has one night to decide if he should help would-be vampire hunter Felicia discover her true calling, or hang her out to dry. It would be easier to decide if she didn't happen to make him feel more alive than he has in two hundred years.

Learn more about the vampire who would come to be a favorite for fans of the Secret McQueen novels. And find out what made him the man Secret fell for.

My thoughts:
Oh, it was so short. Sadness! I wanted more Holden. Though I do confess I was never Team Holden. I liked him, but there were other teams *wink wink read Secret*

Holden in the 80s, despairing about mullets, LOL. Well they are ugly, I am with you there Holden.

It takes place during one evening. He meets a woman named Felicia. She hunts vampires, he is a vampire. Should he help out?

Holden is hot..oh I should say more? He is kind in his jaded way.

Felicia is out of her league. But who can blame her.

I can not really say more, I will spoil the whole thing then.

Conclusion:
I do want more of Holden. Oh how I miss the gang.

Summer - Sierra Dean

Cooper Reynolds has been missing for months.

The whole town of Poisonfoot, Texas believes he has run away, proving they were right not to trust him. They believe he left like his brother and father before him: another good-for-nothing Reynolds man leaving the small town in his dust. No one is looking for him.

No one but Lou Whittaker.

Lou knows Cooper was taken, she just doesn’t know where he is or how to get him back. With the help of budding witch, Max, and an unlikely ally in her former enemy Archer Wyatt, Lou is determined to find Cooper and bring him back in one piece.

But time is running out. Summer is upon them, and if they don’t find Cooper before his 18th birthday, they’ll be bringing home a wild animal instead of their beloved friend.

My thoughts:
I am sad that it's over, but at the same time it ended well. It did not drag out, so for that I am happy.

Cooper and Marnie was taken in book 3, and now they are gone. Who took them (we get to see that, hush hush.) The town thinks he just left (damn town!). So no one is looking for him, but everyone is looking for Marnie.

I should not say no one is looking, Lou and his family are looking. She would do anything to get him back. She is fighting for him, magically and with everything she has. But at the same time I knew, that even if she finds him, he is still doomed. In just a few weeks he will turn 18 and be a coyote forever (damn curse!) So I kept wondering, how will he be saved!? In more than one way.

There was a sadness and melancholy over this book. The curse was so darn close. That town is so darn bad. The people who have him are so darn evil.

But hey, beneath the UF and Paranormal it's still a romance, and this is the last book. It will end happily, I can tell you that.

Conclusion:
A race against the clock, and I read it fast to see what would happen.

Bayou Blues - Sierra Dean

When your sister has saved the world, you have a lot to live up to.

Genie McQueen thought she’d seen it all after helping her big sister Secret stop the Apocalypse. The dead walked, New York City burned, and things nearly went to hell in a hand basket. After it was all over, the world knew about vampires and werewolves, and Genie’s life would never be the same.

But now, three years later, someone doesn’t want werewolves or any supernatural creatures to live alongside humans. A new anti-werewolf church with a charismatic leader and a cult-like following has declared open season on Genie’s whole species. When a member of her pack is kidnapped, she decides it’s time to stop going with the flow and to step up and fight for her people.

Tagging along for the ride is a handsome troublemaker, Wilder Shaw, a pack outsider who just wants to save his brother, but will leave Genie’s head spinning in the process.

Equally troubling are the ghosts of her past she can’t quite shake, the nightmarish figures who haunt her even when she’s wide awake, and a dark magic inside her she hasn’t yet learned to tame.

Things are about to get messy in the bayou.

My thoughts:
First, oh those churches and sects. Here we have another crazy one that is all, death to all things supernatural! But hey people kill people everyday, but weres are just rabid animals so death to them all. See this is why we can't have nice things.

As you can see the baddies made me really upset. I am still all grrrrrr. But that is great. You need a good I hate you baddie, that you still can like while you hate him. And by like do I not mean LIKE, no I hated them, him. But emotions are good.

Genie then. She had some growing to do. Step by step and she shows her worth. I was a bit unsure about her first, she seemed so young and unprepared. But there is nothing like a crazy church leader to bring out the wolf in a woman.

We have action, baddies (well he needs mentioning again), and hints of romance.

I did not like her boyfriend, oh he was all wrong for her. Dump him! And go with the wolf instead. But then, there is that whole mate thing...who will that be?

Conclusion:
Interesting start to this series.

Author Post and Giveaway: Sierra Dean

Today's author post is from Sierra Dean.
Welcome!

Howl at the Moon vs Blood Sucking Fiends – Which monsters have more fun

Howl at the Moon vs Blood Sucking Fiends – Which monsters have more fun

I’m told vampires are so over, as far as fiction goes.

But I’m pretty sure people have been saying vampires are “so over” since Dracula came out. The reality of it is, there will always be vampires in fiction, because they’re fun to read, they’re fun to write and people love them. They’re dark, they’re mysterious, they’re cool and aloof, and they’re just the tiniest bit better than everyone around them. I mean, who wouldn’t cultivate an attitude of total confidence after living two hundred years. Vampires are awesome.

Werewolves are a different story. Shifters are usually broody and gruff. The men are alphas, the women are just as strong as their men. They’re usually bossy, stern and keep to themselves (and their packs, of course) But when they shift, it’s a different story. They’re literal animals, in touch with their wild side, connected to nature and the outdoors. They’re rough and tumble and a little alien.

So which monsters rules supreme?

My love for both vamps and weres was what led me to write the Secret McQueen books in the first place. I liked the idea of the two separate creatures but wondered, “What would happen if someone was both?” And thus, Secret was born. She was from both worlds but part of neither (until she was suddenly in charge of both), and that made her fascinating to me. What strengths would she have, what weaknesses? There was so much to draw from. In the Secret books I tried to focus equally on both parts of her heritage, but the vampire half often got more focus.

With the Genie McQueen books, things are different. Genie is all werewolf, and in spite of her abilities as a natural witch, she has nothing getting in the way of her werewolf skills. It’s different than it was writing with Secret, because I don’t need to worry about balancing powers, I just have to let Genie be Genie. She’s familiar with being a wolf, she accepts the nature of the pack and the wild part of herself in a way Secret never did, so it’s a whole different ballgame this time around.

If I hat to pick, I don’t know if I could. Writing with more focus on the werewolves has been fun. I like delving deeper into their royalty system and seeing how the dynamics between different pack members plays out. The power struggles will become Shakespearean down the line, and it’s a lot of fun to lay the groundwork for that.

At the same time, writing Secret was a joy, because she was so unique and I could make up all the rules for her without any canon to worry about.

Ultimately, they’re both great. I’m not done with vampires. They still exist in the Genie world, and we’ll see them in future books. But between werewolves, witches and the other creepy crawlies in Genie’s universe, I think I’ve got plenty of other things to keep me busy in the meantime.

Thanks!

Chasing Kings - Sierra Dean

A porn star and a bookseller walk into the same BDSM hotel room suite…

Samantha Hart wishes things would stop happening in Vegas when a case of mistaken identity lands her in the Hard Rock’s racy Provocateur suite—an S&M wet dream that’s occupied by an honest-to-God porn star. Ethan Silver’s reputation should put her off, but his naughty charm and wicked-sweet smile have her agreeing to a night on the town. Then wishing for a night in, as well.

Ethan knew the instant he stepped through the door that this wasn’t the Samantha Hart he was almost desperate to see. Yet he can’t help it. He wants to ease the blushing bookseller out of her shell and show her a good time…and not just in the bedroom.

As a hot night on the Strip turns into a hotter night at the hotel, Ethan begins to prove there’s a good guy under his bad-boy façade. There’s a loan shark hot on his tail, though, and only Sam can help keep his movie-star face intact. But telling her the truth could cost him something he needs more than money. Her love.

Warning: Contains a bad boy porn star with all the right moves, a good girl who wants to go bad, and one wild week in Vegas.

My thoughts:
For a book about a porn-star it was kind of cute...and passionate. Do not forget that cos they do get down and dirty too.

Samantha comes for a nice relaxing holiday in Vegas. Destiny throws her into a pRonstar's room. She is all what? No!. He is all, just one date, I do not bite..a lot ;)

So of course that date happen eventually. And she finds out that there is a nice guy behind the star. A guy she likes and would like to spend more time with.

And there is smexy times.

And then there is drama when he owes someone money.

Can they get a HEA? Or are they too different?

Conclusion:
Cute, short, nice, and hot.

A Secret to Die for - Sierra Dean

Secret McQueen thought she’d seen it all, but that was before she, Desmond and Holden came home to find New York City burning and the streets overwhelmed with the walking dead. Now, in a race against time, she must find out who is responsible for unleashing hell on Earth.

For that, she’s going to need a whole new team of vampire wardens to help round up the perpetrators, who turn out to be a gang that makes Sons of Anarchy look like toddlers on tricycles.

Her quest across the city brings old friends and enemies out of the woodwork and reminds Secret once and for all why mercy and forgiveness are not always prudent. Lives will be lost, sacrifices will be made, and when the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same again.

With no time to mourn her losses, the only question remaining is if Secret can survive long enough to stop the apocalypse…or if this is the one challenge that will finally drown her in rivers of undead blood.

Warning: The final book in the Secret McQueen series has it all: hot kisses, unexpected guests, and enough tear-jerking moments to require a whole box of tissues. You’ve been warned.

My thoughts:
This is the end. I am sad, but I am also happy. Too many series have gone downhill. But Secret manages to stay on top of things and never go bad. I m sad that it's over, and I do hope she writes more books, or novellas set in this universe.

The last book ended with a bang. They come back and find New York on fire and zombies everywhere. Awesome! Or not so awesome as things are going to hell and fast. But fear not because Secret is here and she has vampires and werewolves to help her.

First order of business. Zombies, there are no zombies, or? Better take them all down.
Second order of business. Trying for a happily ever after.

There will be tears. There will be action. There will be an evil baddie (that also had me laughing as I saw the name ;). There will even be romance, and heartache. The heartache was from me. Evil evil author. Think of my heart!

As for the choice. I am happy with the choice she made. It fits her, and I could see her happy now.

There was also something else that had me smiling. Yes I know I am cryptic but I can't spoil things now can I? Well done. I was really happy with those turns of events *cryptic*.

Secret is kick-ass. We meet new friends and old ones. Things get sad, I despair, I get happy.

Conclusion:
This is a series you must read.

My thoughts:
I have been trying to write this review for an hour now, and I am struggling. See, there was this cliffie of doom. Oh those evil cliffies! I was all noooo! And then the book ended. So yes, evil cliffie alert for sure.

Poor Lou and Cooper. What a f:ed up town! Everyone hates Cooper, and I am all f u guys! Why the hate!? Poor Cooper :/ Not to mention that in a few months he will turn into a coyote and never be human again. Poor Cooper, that is all I gave to say.

And Lou, poor Lou too! Stuck in the middle of a curse. There has to be the witches, the watchers and the poor cursed ones. I would just say screw you all and go. But then she loves Cooper and she is trying to save him. Trying to find out more about the curse, all while avoiding those darn watchers.

Right, the baddies, arghh Archer, hate him, arghh Christoper, his brother, I hate him more.

And then the end come. After having rushed around (Lou) and Cooper becoming sadder the end came with a bang, and now I need more at once.

Conclusion:
I do like this YA series :)

Cold Hard Secret - Sierra Dean

The Secret’s out, and heads will roll. Ever since her near-death experience at the hands of the villainous Dr.Kesteral, Secret McQueen hasn’t been the same. As in damaged almost beyond repair. But as usual, Secret has no time to lick her wounds.

Armed to the fangs, she and Desmond embark on a whirlwind quest for revenge that takes them to the sewers of Paris to put an end to Alexandre Peyton. Instead, it’s almost the end of them, and before she can stop him, Peyton rips the veil off her deepest secret.

The devil’s not through muddling up the details, either. An eye-opening confab with Sig in the Big Apple leaves her wondering if she’s ever been in control of her own life at all. Plus, a cryptic postcard sends her racing back to her Manitoba hometown, fearing for her grandmere.

With the Council holding the power of life and death over her head, Secret’s circle of friends is shrinking, while the pool of enemies looking for payback is widening like a pool of her own blood.

My thoughts:
This one had one of Sierra Dean's evil endings. I was reading something, turned the page and gasped, the book had ended! Now that is beyond evil, so yes it does end with a cliffhanger. And it's pretty huge and so good that I want book 8 at once. Like now...please? With sugar on top?

Secret is not her usual kick-ass self. She is still dealing with the aftermath of The Doctor and who can blame her. It was gruesome.  And she still has Peyton to deal with, her mother is still out there and not to mention who she should choose. Ok there I do know something, yes she should chose X. I love X. I am not telling you whose team I am on, anyway it's pretty obvious from previous books.

She is running around on rooftops in Paris and then racing home to her grandmother. Things are falling into place and I do think the next book will be epic. I can't even imagine what it will be like. Again, I wish I had it now.

If you have not started this series then you really should. It's kick-ass, it's a love-mess that I love. I am not usually a fan of the oh I have many men to choose from but here it works because she is both vampire and werewolf, so that brings issues to the table. I was hooked from page 1 of book 1 and it has never let me down. I love a series that keeps on going strong, so many just die out.

Conclusion:
Did I say that I recommend this one? Oh I did? Well I tell you again, it's a good one.

Perfect Catch - Sierra Dean

Minor league umpire Alice Darling loves everything about baseball. That means hunky ball players are strictly off limits—dating one would be professional suicide. With a young daughter and a brother to care for, she can’t afford to slip up.

Truth is, as a young, stupid, nineteen-year-old townie, she did once date a player. That’s how she wound up with her precious, nine-year-old daughter…and a determination to never make that mistake again. Alex Ross’s arrival in Florida for spring training, though, shakes her resolve in a big way.

Alex, a catcher for the Major League’s San Francisco Felons, has never let much get in the way of his game. One look at Alice changes everything, and he finds himself pursuing her with a single-minded purpose that plays hell with his concentration.

Booted back to the minors, he returns to Florida with his tail between his legs to work on his swing…and heat things up with Alice. But when rumors of their affair hit the sports blogosphere, Alice’s career is put in jeopardy, and their love starts to look more like a strikeout than a home run.

My thoughts:
I liked Alex in book 1 so I really wanted him to get his HEA, as I also knew who he would get ;)

Alex is  a baseball player who comes to Lakeside for spring training. He is, nice, yes nice and sweet and I liked him.

Alice does not date baseball players after what happened last time. She does had some issues cos of that, and she really should trust her gut more. Cos Alex is a really nice guy and she is lucky to have met him.

A romance that takes off fast, but still does not (figure it out). She has to learn to trust him, to see he is good for her and they both need to figure out where this is going.

Throw in an ex who is an ass, a cute kid, a brother with troubles and some meddling sisters. And baseball of course, and you got this book.

I do wonder if there is a book 3 and about who?

Winter - Sierra Dean

Eloise “Lou” Whittaker can’t shake the feeling she’s forgetting something.

After surviving the explosion of the Poisonfoot Library, she struggles to find her footing again, and she’s grateful Archer Wyatt is there to make sure she’s all right. But Archer seems to be around an awful lot and Lou has trouble controlling herself when she’s with him. She should be thrilled the most popular guy in school wants to be with her, but still, there’s that nagging feeling…

Cooper Reynolds knows he ought to let Lou go. He was putting her at risk by letting her in the first time, and now that she’s a blank slate he should just let her go on blissfully unaware of his curse. But she’s given him a taste of something dangerous… hope.

Can Cooper and an unlikely ally help Lou break free from the spell she’s under? And can they do it before a new force threatens to destroy the whole town?

My thoughts:
This does not happen a lot, but..I liked book 2 better than book 1. Usually book 2 is where I go all sigh, but here. I devoured this one. It also felt, well more original, and it's own.

Lou does not remember Cooper. Cooper tries to stay away but loves her. *music of doom* Archer is trying to win Lou over and he is a handsome, but an evil ass. His family are watching over the curse and arghhh *hates Archer and his family*. Just let them be!!!

Most of the book is Lou going on with her life, Cooper wanting her to remember and pieces falling into place. I learned more about the curse and then, then I turned the page and the book ended. That is the problem with ebooks, I did not brace myself for it. And it came, I was shocked and I wanted more.

Conclusion:
A YA series that got even better. A forbidden romance (those are the best), a curse that needs to be broken and just lots of good stuff.

Autumn - Sierra Dean

Cooper Reynolds's life is going to the dogs... literally.

As if being a high school senior in a small Texas town wasn't hard enough, Cooper has bigger things to worry about than who he'll take to prom and whether or not the Poisonfoot Padres will win homecoming. He has less than a year before his eighteenth birthday, when a curse placed on his family will doom him to live in coyote form forever.

The last thing he needs to complicate his already messed-up life is a girl, but fate has other plans in mind for him when it brings Eloise "Lou" Whittaker to Poisonfoot. She's grouchy, sarcastic and has no love for her new Texas home, but she might be exactly the right person to help Cooper break the curse.

The clock is ticking, and Cooper will have to decide if he's willing to let Lou in on his dirty little secret before it's too late.

My thoughts:
I knew there were secrets but then more secrets showed up at the end. Secrets and secrets.

Lou comes to a little town, she does not want to live there but has no choice. And yes she meets a guy, a very mysterious guy who everyone tells her to stay away from.

Cooper is the guy everyone avoids. But that was no secret there for me, the city may not know, but it was already told  to us that every male in his family turn coyote at 18...and stays that way. So poor guy has something to look forward to soon.

But more is going on than that. Like why do they all become coyotes? Why do his mum and her grandmother tell them to not see each other. Why are there other strange things going on?

But I must say, sometimes it kind of reminded me of Beautiful creatures..I have not read the book, but I did see the movie and yeah..similarities.

And it had an evil ending too, oh of all the cliffies. Must read book 2 soon. Like now!

Conclusion:
Love, magic and hostile feelings.

After her last mission tested the limits of her humanity and took her out of this world, Secret’s friends, determined to keep her safe from her old nemesis Alexandre Peyton, keep ushering her from one babysitter to the next.

Couch surfing would be a lot more fun if Alexandre would let up on her long enough to allow her to get in some alone time with her lovers. Including Holden, her self-appointed shadow.

As if living out of coffin isn’t bad enough, Secret literally brings down the house while hunting a rogue, causing the council to exile her from New York—for her own safety, of course.

With her list of people to trust getting shorter and shorter, Secret ends up embroiled in a mystery to find a vampire warden gone AWOL and a missing artifact. Things go from bad to worse when she falls into the hands of a man who will prove that humans can be the worst monsters of them all.

Warning: Contains a cross-country journey, an unexpected family reunion, heated lovers’ embraces and a hell of a lot of trouble.

My thoughts:
While reading this I had sat down in an uncomfortable position, but did I move? NO! That would mean precious lost reading time. And when it comes to Secret then that is not acceptable. Yes I did start reading this almost the minute I got it, and yes after having slept (evil sleep!) I did start reading again and did not stop.

Secret is as cool as ever. Her life is crap as always as Peyton is on the loose. Her love life is screwed up as always. But I am all Team Des. He is a puppy and I wanna hug him. Holden is, well hot, but nope. He does not do it for me. And now to my confession, it's a dirty secret, but in this book, I can't! Ok, I still have feelings for Lucas! I know, shoot me now. But there they are Lucas feelings popping up again.

The book takes Secret on a trip and shit hits the fan. This is one evil author I tell you. Poor Secret. I have more respect than ever for her. And while on her mission, ohhh the secrets we learn. We learn something about Sig and something about, spoilers darling. Spoilers.

I really can't say anything about this book. It feels like one huge spoilers. But it will give you action, romance and secrets ;)

Conclusion:
Read this series.

Review: Pitch Perfect - Sierra Dean

Emmy Kasper knows exactly how lucky she is. In a sport with few opportunities for women at the pro level, she’s just landed her dream job as head athletic trainer for the San Francisco Felons baseball team. Screwing up is not an option.

She’s lost in thought as she pedals to the spring training facility, her mind abuzz with excitement as she rounds a corner—and plows head-on into two runners. The end of her career dances before her eyes when she realizes she’s almost run over the star pitcher.

As Tucker Lloyd watches the flustered Emmy escape with his bandana tied around her skinned knee, the view is a pleasant change from worrying about his flagging fastball. At thirty-six, the tail end of his career is glimmering on the horizon. If he can’t pull something extraordinary out of his ball cap, the new crop of rookies could make this season his last.

The last thing either of them needs is a distraction. The last thing either of them expects is love.

Warning: Contains a down-on-his-luck pitcher, a good-girl athletic therapist, chemistry that’s out of the park and sexy times that’ll make them round all the bases.

Ebook, 292: Published August 6th 2013 by Samhain Publishing: Boys of Summer #1: Contemporary romance: From the author for an honest review

My thoughts:
Baseball, it's not that I do not like the game (actually I take that back I don't). It's a game that we do not have here, no one watches it, so I am always lost. But it did not matter that I do not understand one inning of the sport. This book sailed me through it. Also, it would make the best baseball movie, I would totally watch it and hope for someone hot to play Tucker. But that is not what I meant to talk about.

This book is about baseball, well that is the background. The true story is the budding romance between Emmy and Tucker. As they work together it should not happen but the chemistry is just so right. I also like that the author made them work for it. There was friendship first, and they hid those other feelings.

Emmy is nice hardworking woman. I can't say anything bad about her, and Tucker is is the same. Together they just seem perfect. I rooted for them. I also wanted him to get his career back. Look at me, going all wohoo Baseball.

Conclusion:
It was a fun and cute contemporary romance book with lots of passion too of course. It also made me want to read more in this series, and I have my eye on someone. Oh and I still want that movie too ;)

ARC Review: Grave Secret - Sierra Dean

Sometimes a secret goes to the grave. Sometimes Secret puts you there.

It’s been a hell of a year for Secret McQueen, and the last thing in the world she wants is to get caught up in werewolf drama. But when her former fiancé Lucas Rain shows up asking for her help, she knows there’s no easy way out.

After making it known she wants nothing to do with him, Secret agrees to help find Lucas’s wayward sister Kellen. After all, how much trouble could one socialite get into in the city that never sleeps?

Unless that socialite has been spirited away by fairies.

Trying to track down a missing girl in an alternate reality is just the start of Secret’s problems, though. Someone appears to be killing teenagers, and the MO looks eerily similar to something for which the half-fairy oracle, Calliope, might be responsible. Throw in a rogue wolf pack claiming allegiance to Secret’s mother, Mercy, and she’ll have miles to go before she rests.

My thoughts:
The last book ended with such a cliffie...of the passionate kind. I could not wait to see where it lead. Not to mention that Sierra was devastated after Lucas being a total ass and not showing up to their wedding. There was drama to be told and I needed to know.

Sierra was a bit messed up but was doing better. Des was nowhere to be found (still Team Des!) and Holden, well I will not tell you whatever happened in the beginning. Whether I am Team Holden or not, well, no not really. I just do not feel him. Can't be that team then. But trust me, not team Lucas at least, and that leaves Des. He is just such a good beta and I want to hug him.

Away from the teams. This book gives us fairies, murder and a twist that kept me reading and reading. Then I cursed our tiny flat as I could not continue to read, but I did wake up earlier the next day so that I could finish this book. And the end, oh she is evil. She leaves such an opening for more and I know the next book will be filled with action. I can't wait to read it.

The romance will not get resolved in this one, I do wonder how she will play it at the end. I am just so curious and want to know, like right now. This is an author that makes you want more.

Conclusion:
This is a great series that I recommend to everyone.

Reviews: Secret McQueen 0,5 and 2,5

They say it's impossible to find a man in New York City. Secret McQueen needs to find two in one night. Of course, it ll mean pulling off the impossible find and kill a displaced rogue vampire without disrupting the first promising date she s had in ages. As a werewolf hybrid used to walking a fine line of survival in the vampire world, though, Secret eats impossible for breakfast.

Somewhere between hello and the first round of drinks, Secret makes her move. Her target, Hollywood s biggest star, shouldn t be hard to spot. Just look for swarms of fans. Except every time her vampire liaison, Holden, helps keep her mission on track, her date runs further off the rails.

Either Holden has a hidden agenda, or he knows more than he s letting on about her quarry. One way or another, Secret is determined to get her man, and meet Mr. Right. Or die trying.

My thoughts:
As you all are aware of now I do not like writing reviews for novellas. What to say? Not to mention that most make me want more, and not in a good way. Here I did want more too cos I love the books, and 47 pages is way too little Secret.

Anyway, blind date, off to kill a Hollywood star, Holden being Holden and some ass kicking :)

I am glad though that I read this one now first, cos prequel are almost never as good as the real thing.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. The season for mistletoe, Christmas lights...and a killing spree. When Secret's friend, Detective Mercedes Castilla, asks for help to solve a series of murders longer than a string of lights, Secret resigns herself to the fact her holidays will be anything but peaceful.

It seems someone is killing New Yorkers in an unusually gruesome way, and as the bodies pile up faster than presents under the tree, the police are no closer to finding the killer than Secret is to finding the perfect present for one of her boyfriends, Lucas.

Tracking down a monster in Manhattan the week before Christmas is almost as difficult as shopping for her ever-expanding collection of loved ones. When tragedy strikes close to home, Secret must do everything in her power to put an end to the horror in time for Santa to come down the chimney.

My thoughts:
A holiday novella where Secret gets to meet Des' parents for the first time, scaaary! ;)

Some cute time between her and Des (love ya Des!). Some tension between her and Holden.

And of course the hunt for a really creepy serial killer who leaves bodyparts as a gift. Just your typical paranormal NY xmas.

Early Review: Low Down Dirty Shane - Sierra Dean

Thick-skinned vampire assassin meets smart-mouthed druid archer. Run, Cupid, run.

Shane Hewitt has been many things—failed husband, supernatural punching bag, and now a bitch to the vampire council of New York City. He thought killing rogue vampires was the hardest thing he’d ever do. Until a hot redhead smashes into him, shouts orders and announces she’s saving his life.

The sole female warrior in a family of druids, Siobhan O’Malley knows how to take care of herself and protect the big city from beasties who breach gateways from the fae realm. The last thing she needs is a misguided, leather-clad hottie’s help to get the job done.

Except maybe he’s exactly what she needs. Siobhan is expected to be a willing, virginal sacrifice on her twenty-fifth birthday. Sex with Shane to stay alive? If he can pull his foot out of his mouth long enough and stop driving her crazy, no problem.

Now if only the bad guys would leave them alone long enough to get the deed done.

My thoughts:
Shane is out hunting vampires when he meets a hot woman who is running for her life. Now who can say no to that?

As it's a short novella, about 70 pages, there is not much to say. They meet, they fight monsters and her family. Her messed up family who wants to sacrifice her, a virginal sacrifice, well there is one way to solve that problem ;)

Shane is cool, Siobhan is kick-ass. They make a great team and I think that they can be fun together. I would sure like to read more, they could have some action filled and hot adventures for sure.

Discussion Point

I will ask this again tomorrow so I can get as many opinions as needed.

I have posted the Lady Scoundrels thing now for a few weeks. The questions is:

* Do you like that there are 3 reviews of the same book?

* Or should we just have one discussion post / or 3 short reviews in one? (with links to longer reviews if there are, goodreads for example)

Thanks!

2 in 1: Deep Dark Secret and Keeping Secret by Sierra Dean

Secret McQueen has hunted vampires, werewolves, and every conceivable supernatural menace-to-society. Seen it all? Not even close. When the queen of the were-ocelots comes to her for help finding a missing girl, the half-vampire/half-werewolf soon realizes how much she has to learn about the things that go bump in the night.

The case of the missing cat is one thing. Pile it up with her new duties as a Tribunal Leader, her tenuous position as mate to the king of the Eastern werewolves, and a slew of new (and unwelcome) supernatural abilities, and Secret is once again in familiar territory. "Way" over her head. But for this multitasking half-breed, it's business as "un"usual.

What knocks her for a loop, though, isn't her lover's intoxicating kiss. It's the missing memories rushing at her from out of nowhere, signaling a rapidly approaching fork in her destiny. Her choice will affect not only her life, but her love.

My thoughts:
I am gonna try to keep this short (something I never managed anyway) as I have to write a review for book 4 too. Yes I finished this book in a hurry and immediately started book 4 because the series is just that good!

Secret is kick-ass as always and adjusting to her new position among the vampires. She still keeps her two delicious boyfriends, I heart Desmond all the way but he sure gets the short stick of everything. Then there is Lucas, I do like him, he is king after all. I keep forgiving him cos he has this presence and they are meant to be after all but...yes but...

This story is about her searching for a missing girl, meeting an old friend, going to school (sort of), and dealing with her messed up love life.

And it's good! I just can't gush enough because I have fallen for this series. I am just going to recommend it to everyone!!! Read it!

It’s a nice day for a white wedding. At least that’s what Secret McQueen is hoping for, with her poofy-princess-dress marriage to a werewolf king looming closer and closer by the day. But as ever, nothing can be that easy for a vampire/werewolf hybrid for whom someone still harbors a death wish.

Summoned to the south by her werewolf uncle, who makes no bones about the fact her mate bond with Lucas doesn’t pass muster, Secret learns her furry heritage looks more like a tangled vine than a family tree. Getting her royal uncle’s blessing hinges on finding one of the missing twigs. Even with vampire sentry Holden Chancery at her side, she manages to land up to her neck in a swamp of trouble.

As an assassin’s scope zeroes in, family dramas boil up and a fast-collapsing love square threatens to bury her alive, making it to the church on time could be the least of Secret’s problems.

My thoughts:
By looking at the cover you sure know something is gonna happen, yes Secret is going to marry Lucas. And I could not wait to sink my teeth into this one.

I still like Lucas but he always puts pack first! Time after time. He knows how she feels about Desmond, I mean she loves Des more! Still I like Lucas, but that love is wearing thing while reading this book. And Desmond *cries*. Why can't she just have them all :( Poor beta Des.

Like that wasn't enough, I started falling for Holden in this one. He is all..vampire and sexy. Do I need to say more?

The wedding is fast approaching and there will be a lot to deal with since not everyone is happy. And trust me, the book ends, with a big bang. A big bang that made me crave the next book like crazy! How on earth is this gonna turn out?

*craves book 5*

So start reading this series at once. Action, passion, and one girl who can't decide since she is meant for more than one wolf.

I need more!
