My Thoughts:
What a great conclusion to this series! I really enjoyed this series, it was light, haha, oh you know I love that word! It was light of writing, it was not light in tone. Nope, it was dark in tone. Light writing and dark tone equals: great fantasy series that people should read.

They are all set at different times and different people, but it works. Sure peace came in book 1 but true peace takes time.

In this one one of the cities in Shael is in trouble. The country suffered greatly in the war. And now the dead walk and hunt the living. No, not zombies. What is going on in the city?

In the city we have the Of Alyssa, who tries to rally people together. And Zannah who was really fascinating. She was the invading enemy that stayed behind and everyone hates her, but they also know she is keeping them alive.

Balruss, the mighty battlemage who saved everyone during the war. And Tammy, the guardian that travels with him to this haunted city. Tammy was kickass!

It takes place in a dead city. There is death, dead? people. And just a book that I read so fast and could not put it down. Light in writing, dark in tone. Just perfect.

And that was the end! *sobs* But there is another series that takes place 10 years after. Yay. I want more about the weird gods!

Blurb
Voechenka is a city under siege. Decimated by the Battlemage War, its dead now walk the city at night, attacking survivors, calling their names and begging the living to join them beyond the grave.

Tammy is a Guardian of the Peace sent to the city to investigate, so the ruling powers can decide whether to help Voechenka or leave it to its grisly fate.

Zannah is a pariah in Voechenka - making up for her people's war crimes by protecting refugees who fear her far more than their unearthly attackers.

Balfruss is a scholar, a traveler . . . and the infamous mage who single-handedly ended the war.No one else may enter or leave the city - so if this ragtag group of survivors can't figure out what is going on, they'll live out their last days within its walls. And night is coming on fast . . .

Bloodmage - Stephen Aryan

Paperback, 528 pages

My Thoughts:
The last book was all about war, while this one have spies, "cops" and criminals.

Byrne and Fray are guardians who are investigating horrible murders. I liked them and their hunt for the killer.

Choss is trying to find what happened at a recent fight and that brings us the underworld. I was not that keen on Choss or his investigations. The best part was when Butcher showed up

A character from book 1 is hanging about and I so wanted more about him, but alas.

Katja is a spy who is sent to infiltrate bad guys who are trying to assassinate two queens. I think I like what she did during the daytime more than her spying, her daytime was interesting. Everything these characters are doing will come together at the end one way or another.

I enjoy this series. It is light (in the way written!) I know I say that a lot and everyone thinks ohh light, no no, not the actual story. I mean people are butchered. But who it is written cos the story flows and I read it fast. And now I want book 3! Which again will be about new character! Arghh, I so want the Gods stuff! Please just give that to me.
Anyway, I guess I know what I am telling SO to give me for my birthday! Book 3 and the next series ;)

Conclusion:
Enjoyable and fun!

Synopsis
The people of Perizzi have survived the battlemage war, but their future is looking darker than ever.

BYRNE is a Guardian of the Peace, investigating a series of murders in which the corpse was drained entirely of life.

FRAY's expertise with magic is needed to catch the killer, but working with the Guardians destroyed his father, years before.

CHOSS is a champion fighter, trying to diffuse a war in the underworld that threatens to turn the streets red with rivers of blood.

KATJA is a spy from a foreign land, attempting to prevent a massacre that will topple two dynasties and destroy the fragile peace in the city for ever.

Guardians and spies, assassins and criminals will clash on the streets in this magic-fuelled adventure from the author of Battlemage.

My Thoughts
I really enjoyed this one. I did not know what to expect, but I decided to give it a go and I am glad I did.

It was all war. I like war ones!

There are 3 major POVs.
Balfruss is a battlemage who tries to keep his country safe. All around good powerful guy.

Tallandra is a princess, but no dainty miss. She is the country's spymaster and tries to sow discord in other countries to help their own cause.

And now my favorite. Vargus, a grizzled veteran who made me go all whaaat? I love going whaaat!

This idiot king is invading and has invaded lots more. All in the disguise of true religion. Grrr, kick their asses back to where they came!

Conclusion:
SO like I said, it is all war. Spying and battles. It was easyread and enjoyable. I do want more. But dang, the next book is about 4 new people?! Nooo, what about Vargus!? Must read more!

Synopsis
BALFRUSS is a battlemage, sworn to fight and die for a country that fears his kind.

VARGUS is a common soldier - while mages shoot lightning from the walls of his city, he is down on the front line getting blood on his blade.

TALANDRA is a princess and spymaster, but the war will force her to risk everything, and make the greatest sacrifice of all.

Magic and mayhem collide in this explosive epic fantasy from a major new talent
