Who is (well are) Isabella Connor?
Isabella Connor is a pen name for two people: Liv Thomas, who lives in Southampton, and Val Olteanu, who lives in Vancouver. We’ve actually never met in person. We create our novels together via email and phone calls. An Irish Promise is our second collaboration.
To get to know you both better...
Favorite kind of chocolate?
Liv: All kinds! I do find it hard to stop eating Maltesers.
Val: I can devour a Cadburys Flake in mere seconds. Or would if I could only find them here in Canada.
Tea or Coffee?
Liv: Usually tea, or creamy cappuccino where you get lots of thick froth and no taste of coffee!
Val: Coffee. Preferably strong enough to blow the roof of my mouth off.
Cats or dogs?
Liv: Love cats but dogs just win out
Val: I have both – a smoky grey tabby cat called Rafael, and an English Mastiff called Darius. Quite a difference in size there!
Favorite season?
Liv: Spring
Val: I think I have favourite months rather than seasons: May because the flowers are at their very best, and December because of Christmas.
Paris or New York?
Liv: Never been to Paris so will have to say New York
Val: Too hard to choose. New York for serious shopping. Paris for a romantic getaway.
And now tell us about your new book, An Irish Promise.
It’s a story of revenge and retribution, and the consequences that come as a result of choosing to go down that path. A young woman returns to the Irish village of her childhood intent on punishing the school bullies whose actions ultimately destroyed her family.
Tell us more about Rachel.
Rachel is driven by a need for revenge, though she sees it more as justice. She’s not looking for love, but Australian actor Finn MacKenzie is hard to resist. As Rachel’s feelings for Finn develop, she starts to question whether she should go through with her plans for revenge – can love make her forget the past? But she can’t rid herself of the thought that the bullies were never punished, or made aware of the consequences of their actions.
And then Finn?
Finn is a tortured soul, bless him. On the surface, he has it all – he’s talented and quite yummy – but he’s plagued by inner demons from his past.
What are you working on right now?
Book 3 in our Emerald Isle romance series. Like the other novels in the series, it will have romance, mystery, and more than a few twists and turns.
