Brenda has suffered for 5 books now. For 5 books! This woman is cursed. I want to go there and kick everyone for letting her suffer. I have wanted a happiness for her so very long. I wanted everyone to ride to her rescue, everyone!

First she was married to an idiot at 16. Then when she was free the Earl of Morton, oh I can not even speak of that. Poor Poor Brenda. And now she has sacrificed herself to be sent to England to marry so that her cousin can keep his new bride. Her new husband to be we met in book 5 and he needs a kick in the nuts.

But Brenda has one person in her corner, Bothan Gunn. I love you Bothan, you never gave up. He rides to England after her, and he keeps fighting to win her. A lot more are thrown in their way. Until I just wanted to scream let her be happy!

She does fight him too, though she also fancies the pants of him. But she does not want to marry again (at the same time, go for it woman! Go for it. He is not like the rest.)

Drama, fighting and a true quest for a heart. I have enjoyed this series! I wonder what she will do next...

I really like Antony's narration. He is Highlanders to me. He does them so well. And he does do female voices well too.

Brenda Grant has no desire to marry. Ever since her first, horrible marriage, she's made herself into a hellion of a woman to keep men from wanting her. But the Campbells, her previous husband's family, are determined to find her a new husband. Highland Chief Bothan Gunn is smitten by the woman who won't be tamed. My Thoughts

I am really starting to hate the Edinburgh court and those dang lowlanders! Curse them all to hell! There is some hate from the previous books (you should read them and curse the court too).

To the book. Athena is English. She lives with her goldsmith uncle. A nobleman said he would marry her and she likes him. And obviously something is to go wrong because how else would a handsome Scot have her. That English nobleman, oh how I cursed his name and still did when I finished the book. But Athena is brave and ends up in Scotland.

Symon, aww, yes I have met him in so many books, and yes yes! We are finally getting Brenda's story after this (well I hope!). I have longed for her HEA. But yes Symon's too, because he does seem lonely and needs a woman.

These two meet, and if you have read the previous books you know which road it will take. But for the rest, I wont spoil it, but come one, he is a Highlander, ha. Sparks fly. They want each other, but she is careful. But oh trust him woman! He wants to marry you.

They do their little dance and then there is drama too. But there is also a build up for the next book at the end and I am on pins and needles! There was a cliffie regarding the next couple. But hey we all know a HEA will come there too. 

Conclusion

I enjoyed this one! Passion and drama

Ferguson is a must for narrating a Wine book and I do adore his highlanders! Splendidly.

Audio Review: Highland Flame - Mary Wine

Laird Diocail Gordon has just come into his title and inherited his uncle's run-down castle and rag-tag clan. My thoughts:

I have enjoyed this series so far and when we met Diocail in the previous book I was curious to know more. The Gordons have caused a LOT of troubles in previous books. 

But Diocail is new to the lairdship and he will hopefully bring some order to the land. But the keep is in ruins and no one is doing anything to fix it. Good for them that he is persistent. 

Jane had a crappy marriage and is now on her own and trying to get back to England. She had courage and would not back down. A spine of steel.

They meet, they clash and they start falling in love. But the road there is long. The clansmen do not want an Englishwoman! The English suck after all.

His retainers were so much fun. They started to like having her around and I kind of wanted a story for all of them after that. I just got to know them so well.

But before that it seems Simon Grant is getting a story, or Brenda (She so deserves love so hopefully hers first).

Oh I could not listen to a Wine book without him narrating. He is the characters. I like how he does them and with that fine accent of his.

Audio Review: Highland Hellion - Mary Wine

Katherine Carew Illegitimate daughter of an English earl. Abducted to Scotland at age fourteen. No family, no reputation, no rules. Rolfe McTavish Heir to an honorable Highland laird. Can't believe how well tomboy Kate can fight. About to learn how much of a woman she really is. Scotland is seething with plots, the vengeful Gordons are spoiling for a fight, and the neighboring clans are at each other's throats. All it takes is a passionate hellion with a penchant for reckless adventure to ignite the Highlands once more. 

My thoughts:

It does work as a stand alone, but we meet players again that were on earlier books. Katherine who was saved by Marcus in book 2. Now she lives with his family and has also trained in secret dressed as a boy with the guards.

Katherine learned that she needed to be able to fend for herself and so she did. She is strong and capable. But her wild side does leave her in trouble.

The Gordons are still spoiling for trouble. Asshats as they are. From book 1 already. Grrrr. But...I can't say a lot but there is hope even for them. And she will see herself in trouble with them.

Rolf we met briefly in book 2, he was young and now is older but is still the same. And he fancies her the moment they meet. And so does she. Oh they do not stand a chance.

Brenda Grant is even mentioned, ok for newbies that will just be a brief sidestory but I was happy to see her again and that is well. And there is a mention of a new character, I am hoping to see his story, oh and Brenda's brothers story! I totally need him to find love. Yikes, after 3 books I am invested in all these characters. I want heas all around, and to see the Earl of Morton suffer. Grrrrr.

Conclusion:
There is passion and romance. Danger and plots. Highlanders up for a fight and new friendships being made. I enjoyed it all, and I am looking forward to more.

Narration: Antony Ferguson

This is my third book with this narrator. I am used to him now and would not want anyone else. I enjoyed his voice from the start. He does male and female voices well- I like his accent even if I did not really hear Catherine's.

He has a voice that keeps my attention on the story

Audio Review: Highland Vixen - Mary Wine

Marcus MacPherson is every inch the fearsome Highlander. He's used to men averting their eyes and women cowering before him. He thinks he'll eventually settle down with a nice, obedient bride. Instead, he gets Helen Grant . . . Stubborn as the day is long, fearless, and dedicated to raising as much hell as possible, Helen is definitely going to challenge Marcus. And challenge him some more. And then some. It's anyone's guess who'll win this battle of the heart . . .

My thoughts:
This is book 2, and sure it works as a stand alone. But the couple from book 1 is still around since it's his brother and wife. And we met Helen and Marcus in book 1 and got a bit of their story.

Marcus stole her to teach her family to behave. And she is pissed at him. She wants to go home and he, oh he totally fancies her but is too man to admit it. Silly man!

I am not saying what happens, but these two end up married. And it will not be an easy marriage. Not by any means at all.

But first. Brenda! Poor Brenda. Through the entire book I wondered what would happen to Brenda. She would so deserve a book of her own! If you wonder who that is, well she belongs to the same clan as Helen and they will do some travelling together ;)

We also meet a girl named Catherine and I am looking forward to her book for sure.

But this is about Helen and Marcus dancing around each other. They both want each other. But she is a nobody, he is the war chief. Then there is that bloody Earl of Morton making plans and being evil.

Conclusion:
It was amusing listening to this. I could not wait for them to end up together and when they finally did they still had a long way to travel, and with drama, some good drama and suspense too.


Narration:
This is the second book I am listening to by Ferguson and I am used to his voice now. And his voice fits these books. He does the highlanders well.

Audio Review: Highland Spitfire - Mary Wine

My thoughts:

Huh, so that is how you spell his name! When I listen to audio I just never know, well I know now. So let us start.

Bhaic and Ailis are part of feuding families. You know those highlanders, there is always a feud to be had. They really hate each other, but the country needs peace and they must marry.

Bhaic is a man of honor, she could have done worse.  But he does not have a lot of trust over, but hey I get that. The feud has been going on for 3 generations. He tries his best.

Ailis tried to keep it cool, but she does have a spitfire hiding in her. And I did feel so sorry for her because the people of the castle does not want her there. But she never gave up, she was strong. I liked her.

And of course it helps that they do start to fancy each other, but I liked that they took it slow. We got to know them, the castle and the people.

Conclusion:
A nice historical romance with highlanders , and I do love them. I look forward to the next book.

Narration:

Antony Ferguson did a good job. Sure the voices did not always sound all that different, but I did not care cos his voice was pleasant listening too. He kept me entertained and I did like the brogue.

I would def listen to more by him, and I am already doing just that.
