Audio: Governess gone rogue - Laura Lee Guhrke

Audio CD, 10 h
Published January 29th 2019 by HarperCollins
Series: Dear Lady Truelove #3
Historical romance
Thank you Harper for this audio!

My Thoughts:
Another Justine Eyre narration. Ok so I do adore her narrations, and I know I have listen to her a lot lately, but it is really by accident! But ok if I do see her name it does sway me towards the book, so maybe I choose books without knowing it.

Also look at that cover, short hair! They really got it right, I am impressed. Yes, our plucky heroine cuts her hair, pretends to be a man and becomes a tutor to two wild boys. I would have run screaming, but she sticks it out.

Our handsome hero has his hands full and he works WAY too much. I mean man please take it easy. You are going to an early grave. His life is all about his work as an MP.

For some reason she looks 10 years younger as a man, weird.
He does not really see her a lot so that works with him not noticing what she really is, and when he does get a clue he starts to notice more.

There is a secret in her past that will come back to haunt her and I wanted to slap someone over it.

Fun, a bit of teaching and some passion.

Narration
Yes Justine Eyre is really good. I so enjoy when she does historical romance. She gets everything just as I want it

Cover
Like I said, look short hair! Just as in the book

BLurb
Dear Lady Truelove . . .

My twin brother and I need a new mother, though Papa insists he'll never marry again. Must be nice, brainy, and fond of cats . . .

Lady Truelove may be London's most famous advice columnist, but James St. Clair, the Earl of Kenyon, knows his wild young sons need a tutor, not a new mother. They need a man tough enough to make his hellions tow the line, and James is determined to find one.

Miss Amanda Leighton, former schoolteacher and governess, knows she has all the qualifications to be a tutor. And while female tutors are unheard of, Amanda isn't about to lose the chance at her dream job because of pesky details like that. If Lord Kenyon insists on hiring a man, then she has only one option . . .

Jamie isn't sure what to make of his new employee, until he realizes the shocking truth-beneath the ill-fitting suits, his boys' tutor is a woman. An unconventional, outspoken, thoroughly intriguing woman. Despite Amanda's deception, he can't dismiss her when his boys are learning so much. Yet Jamie, too, is learning surprising lessons-about desire, seduction, and passionate second chances . . .

Audio: The Trouble with true love - Laura Lee Guhrke

By: Laura Lee Guhrke
Narrated by: Justine Eyre
Series: Dear Lady Truelove, Book 2
Length: 10 hrs and 2 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 01-29-19
Language: English
Publisher: HarperAudio

My Thoughts:
Clara's sister owns a newspaper and now when Irene is on her honeymoon it is Clara that has to care for the paper. And write a advice column! Not the easiest thing for shy wallflower. Poor Clara, Irene was meant to be back and writing the column by now.

Yes Clara. A bit of a wallflower who may start stammering when a handsome men approaches. But sweet, smart and utterly useless at giving other advice.

Rex, a rogue that is not really a rogue. Against marriage cos of his parents. Cut of by his dad and living on his aunt's allowance. But it all hasa  reason and I felt that yes maybe he was actually too kind. Sometimes people needs to learn a lesson. Handsome as the devil too.

A bloody nose brings them together. He hates newsrags. She thinks he can shove his advice up his *beeP* And oh you two! Working close together and pretending things always lead to love! Will these rakes never learn! ;)

Conclusion:
Stolen kisses. Banter and falling in love. There is never any real drama. The drama is more how these two are so different and must learn that love will always win.

Fun times!

Narrator
Well, yes, Justine Eyre again. I do enjoy her voice when it comes to historical romance. She does the men and women so well in them. She brings me to that era.

Story
Dear Lady Truelove,

I am a girl of noble family, but I am painfully shy, especially in my encounters with those of the opposite sex . . .

For Clara Deverill, standing in for the real Lady Truelove means dispensing advice on problems she herself has never managed to overcome. There’s nothing for it but to retreat to a tearoom and hope inspiration strikes between scones. It doesn’t—until Clara overhears a rake waxing eloquent on the art of “honorable” jilting. The cad may look like an Adonis, but he’s about to find himself on the wrong side of Lady Truelove.

Rex Galbraith is an heir with no plans to produce a spare. He flirts with the minimum number of eligible young ladies to humor his matchmaking aunt, but Clara is the first to ever catch his roving eye. When he realizes that Clara—as Lady Truelove—has used his advice as newspaper fodder, he’s infuriated. But when he’s forced into a secret alliance with her, he realizes he’s got a much bigger problem—because Clara is upending everything Rex thought he knew about women—and about himself. . . .

Four weddings and a sixpence Anthology

“Something Old”
Julia Quinn’s prolog introduces her heroine Beatrice Heywood and the premise for Four Weddings and a Sixpence.

My thoughts:
Just an introduction to the women and the coin.

“Something New”
In Stefanie Sloane’s unforgettable story, an ever-vigilant guardian decrees that Anne Brabourne must marry by her twenty-first birthday. But love finds her in the most unexpected of ways.

Thoughts:
Anne needs to marry. She meets a Duke. They form a friendship while she hunts for a man.
Nice little story

“Something Borrowed”
Elizabeth Boyle tells the tale of Cordelia Padley, who has invented a betrothed to keep her family from pestering her to wed. Now she’ll need to borrow one to convince them she’s found her true love.

Thoughts:
I liked Cordelia. What an idiotic idea of hers, but it paid off. I liked that how much he really did love her.

“Something Blue”
In Laura Lee Guhrke’s story, unlucky Lady Elinor Daventry has her sixpence stolen from her and must convince the rake who pilfered the coin to return it in time for her own wedding.

Thoughts:
I was not sure about this hero, and even at the end. Hmm, I just do not know. But then her father was evil. Dilemma! Still a good story.

“... and a Sixpence in Her Shoe”
Julia Quinn finishes with the story of Beatrice Heywood, who never believed that the sixpence was anything but a tarnished old coin—until it led all of her friends to true love. But her faith in the coin is tested when it keeps sending her to the wrong man!

Thoughts:
I do believe this to be my favorite. Bea lived a quiet life. Her hero wanted a quiet life after all the looks his eye gave him. People can be so cruel! A lovely story how they fell in love.

Conclusion:
This was an anthology that worked and all stories were strong. Cute, romantic and short.
