My thoughts:

I must confess, I really do not recall all events in Wonderland. Last I saw something from that book was in the latest movie. So how much is in this mashup...well, I do not know. But it sure is Wonderlandesque. More so than PPesque.

Darcy and Lizzy have been married for ages and have a few kids. All good behaved lovely children/almost adults. Except for Alice who has a truly vivid imagination. And I, omg, this is horrible, but I totally understood the eldest one, Bennett, when he said his sister is insane. In those days, being as she was, well Lady Catherine sure would not have liked it. Not really a proper young lady this one.

Alice is sure lucky to have parents like Lizzy and Darcy. That is for sure.

Anyway, I am blabbering. The mad hatter got to me. Darcy and Alice will have an adventure in wonderland and everything is turned on its head.

Quite a different sort of Pride and Prejudice sequel. I think Alice will grow up to be an author. I am sure of it.

Enjoyable for a silly fun time.

Pride and Prejudice Thursday: Chosen and Geogiana Darcy's Diary

The Bennet family changed dramatically when Mr Bennet nearly lost his life. The rekindled love between him and his wife encouraged a unifying bond amongst their five daughters. He is immediately captivated and soon seeks out an introduction and dance with Elizabeth Bennet. Could it be that his parents, though they are no longer with him, are leading him right to the arms of a family who can help both he and his sister heal from all they have suffered? Will the instant connection Darcy and Elizabeth both feel for each other be able to weather the storms that come when a secret past connection is revealed? 

My thoughts:

This one was SO sweet. Everyone was so nice, except for Caroline. If you think she is bitchy otherwise, then here, omg, the most annoying bitchy woman who I just want to punch in the face.

But everyone else was sweet. Because in this what if Mr and Mrs Bennet found their way to each other. So Mrs Bennet never turned into that annoying woman that she is. She was really nice, he was really nice.

Darcy meets Elizabeth, and does not insult her.

Bingley and Jane meet and are dull as always.

Mary is nice and meets a man, and I was all yay, but then dang! In book 3 we get to see that first. What???! I wanted that conclusion now. Here we just got Lizzy and Darcy. Such a shame. Cos it was sweet and fun.

My thoughts:

This was a sweet one, through Georgiana's eyes in diary form.

Anne needs a man! Oh but do not tell her mother.

Right so there is the plot. Georgiana takes a look at the men, they are meh. She helps her cousin. And she dreams about Colonel Fitzwilliam. I could live with the whole cousin thing, what makes it icky to me is that he helped raise her, which made him more like a brother. I can read about the pairing and wish them luck. But it is not my fav pairing (I always wanted to see him with Kitty ;) Haha.

But it was cute :)

I wonder if I got book 2 somewhere....

Flinging caution to the winds, she flees her marital home, masquerading as a gentleman, and accompanied only by her redoubtable maid, Figgins, she sets off for Venice to take refuge with her sister Camilla. But events -- always dramatic and sometimes dangerous -- conspire to thwart her plans. Before she can meet up with Camilla, chance and her love of music lead her into the world of Italian opera, while her encounter with the aloof and difficult Titus Manningtree, in Italy to pursue a lost Titian painting, is to change her life -- although fate has several more tricks to play before she can find happiness. 

Once again...I find myself picking up the second book in a series. I feel like it is a curse of mine. Sighs. Good news, though, this does well as a stand alone. Each book is about a Darcy daughter and there is one about the son later on. Of course Lizzie would produce many daughters and only one son. Darcy lucked out on that one XD

ANYWAYS...I digress....

Alethea...Titus....Figgins...Camille....Norris Napier? Ridiculous names for the time period. Please point me to someone in the 1800s with the name Titus. Names like Elizabeth, William, Collin, and so forth were the names of the time. So silly. That was honestly my biggest compliant I believe with the book.

Second, Alethea needed a slap in the face. How did Darcy and Lizzie create such a dimwit daughter? Why the heck would they allow her to marry Norris so quickly after her heartbreak with another character with a ridiculous name (it started with a P, I honestly forgot). Then the guy turns out to be abusive and controlling and all that. She has enough and runs away dressed as a man to go to her sister or her parents. 

Events unfold and then she comes across Titus who she meet a couple years ago. Of course he recognizes her as a woman RIGHT away. Really? He literally walked in the room and was like "oh that's a woman - she kinda looks familiar, but meh...I'm too concerned for my little broken heart right now." After a bit he realizes that its Darcy kid and then suddenly he cares and wants to help. 

So yes, the beginning was meh. It got interesting in the middle, and the boring again. I really didn't like any of the characters. Alethea reminded me too much of Lydia and Titus was a sad version of Darcy mixed with Bingly. I am SUPER glad that it took forever for Alethea and Titus to get together. I feel like it wasn't really a "romance", so that was a nice change. There was love, but it took forever for them to actually get together. 

In the end, this was a meh bordering on okay. The middle was interesting and I was curious to see how everything would end. I pretty much called what would happen to Norris. I wasn't a fan of any of the characters. Yes, I felt bad for Alethea for being abused, but she was an idiot and her parents should've never let the marriage happen in the first place. Ugh...the names killed me. I would like to read the first one at some point or another book by the author. In the end, I shall stamp this with 1 star. I am for sure having a mini-slump right now. Boo. I need a good P&P variation to help with this slump. ;) hehehe

Charlotte - Karen Aminadra

When Charlotte Lucas married Mr Collins, she did not love him but had at least secured her future. However, what price must she pay for that future? She once said she was not romantic, but how true is that now after almost one year of marriage? 

Mr Collins is submissive in the extreme to his patroness, and his constant simpering, fawning and deference to the overbearing and manipulative Lady Catherine de Bourgh is sure to try the patience of a saint, or at least of Charlotte. 

As Charlotte becomes part of Hunsford society, she discovers she is not the only one who has been forced to submit to the controlling and often hurtful hand of Lady Catherine.  She feels trapped and realises her need for love and affection. She is not as content as she once thought she would be. The easiest thing to do would be to maintain the peace and do as she is told. But as Charlotte witnesses the misery around her due to her inimitable neighbour, she must decide to remain as she is or to begin a chain of events that will change not only her life but also the lives of those around her in the village of Hunsford forever. 

But...after all, doesn't every girl deserve a happy ending? 

My thoughts:

So this was Charlotte's book. It takes place after Lizzy and Darcy married. And someone is maaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Lady Catherine is such an idiot.

This book then. Charlotte finds herself content, but wishing for more. So she tries her best to change her simpering fool. But he is as we all know all about Lady C. BUT, he does change, slowly over time. And to my surprise I even found myself liking him...but it did take to the end ;)

We have Charlotte trying to teach Collins some manners. We have Lady C ruling with an iron fist. And we have the good people of the village.

What I did not like was a certain situation C found herself in. I could have approved, but not after certain things that happened. It felt really strange.

Conclusion:

But all in all, I enjoyed it.

Sounds like a plan. Right then, what did you think about Mary King from Pride and Prejudice?

C:At first I liked her...but…...then she made me mad. I am glad she got her only little story though!

B:I was not a fan, she was such a silly thing. Ohhh Wickham SUDDENLY likes me, duh, you just become an heiress you stupid thing.

C:Ugh I know. I liked her friend Anne who was super sensible. I kinda wish that Mary will end up alone and Anne gets the cousin. ;)

B:Ha, you are bad! But I like that, Anne should get the nice guy, Mary can go make another mistake.

C:I hate dumb characters who can’t see that they are being used. It was SO obvious! Plus, it took him being married to Lydia for her to finally get over him. Remember that scene when she saw him with Kitty and Lydia on his arms while she was in the carriage? SHE WAS STILL IN LOVE WITH HIM AND KINDA DEFENDING HIM! UGH!

B:Ok so I know the author does not have much to go with, but make the story more interesting. Do not make her so stupid! Get a drama plot why she was with Wickham. Not, that….

C:Agreed. I wish Mary was a stronger and smarter character. I totally get her being the wallflower and in love with someone and then he pays attention to her. It’s hard for her not to want his attention. But she was a total TSTL character. :( ANd I had high hopes for a fellow wallflower lmao

B:I wished for more too, and now it just fell apart for me. I was not that interested in this story. Mary was Mary, and seriously what does Austen have against peeps named Mary?!

C:Maybe she knew a Mary...who she disliked. hahaha So the ending...did you like it?

B:Eh, sure, maybe she will see reason, I still do not like her and wish that other thing.

C: She seemed to “grown up”, but I still wish Anne will get the cousin. Who knows? The author left it open-ended. Which I am not a fan of those. >__<

B:Let’s just move on to the next one shall we ;) Kitty’s story! YAY

C: So, what do you think of the match between Kitty and Fitzwilliam? I was shocked...I never read a PP that those two get together.

B: Loved it! I hate when he ends up with Georgiana, I am always all euwwww, he is your guardian, he is like your brother! Not to mention your cousin. So this was such a good fit. And I like books where Kitty grows up and becomes sensible.

C: I’ve read ones where she grows up, but this is my first one centered around HER. I am torn if I like them as a couple. I secretly want Mary and Fitzwilliam to get together. I don’t know why.

B: Really? I could not see that, he is too, no, not a good fit. I could have seen her with that new brother of his though. A nice calm fit.

C: I could see that as well. (He wasn’t mentioned in the Austen book was he? I do not remember that name). But I am not opposed to Kitty and James together. It took me by surprise I shall admit!

B: But that is good :D I like a good surprise. I went all yay, good! when I read it ;) And no, this new younger brother was not mentioned. That was the real surprise for me, he and Anne, I was all..ok.

C: That is what I thought. I did not like that couple though...I felt it was a cop-out to remove Anne as “competition” for James, so it would be easier to get past Lady Catherine for James to marry Kitty. LAME. I wanted a complete and utter blow out and fight over this coupling, because Kitty does have a bad history as being a flirt.

B: Williams writes caaaalm books. But yes a big fight wouold have been cool. All I LOVE HER!!!!!! Ha.

And the Anne thing, hey here is another brother, ugh. No, Anne seems to have some serious health issues, why do they always marry her to someone. That girl is surely dying.

C: I think she is faking it half the time. haha James even mentioned that, “I think she’s doing it for attention.” haha I had a good laugh at that. I do wanna read more books by Williams. I loved her writing style (even tho I wanted a huge verbal fight haha).

B: I think Anne has TB and someone should just have the courage to kill her off….evil *coughs*

But yes Williams has a lovely style. I read Georgiana’s book last year, and would love to read Mary’s :)

C: And you call ME evil xD I nearly choked to death on my water! If she does have TB they should do the humane thing and take her out of her misery.

But I have to read Miss Georgiana’s book. I love when they give her a HEA. SHe totally deserves it.

B: LOL. Oh I just saw that Maria Lucas got a novella too. With Denny!

C: Oooooh. That shall be interesting.

So...what did you think of the ending? I thought it was a nice throwback to Austen’s novel. I am glad Mrs Bennet got to make an appearance (she makes me laugh).

B: I liked the ending, sweet and nice. And that is why I liked the other story I read by her :) So this one was a clear favorite over that one for me.

C: It is on my TBR list now. :D

Anything else you wanna throw in?

B: I love PP variations!!!!! I cannot get enough. The end, now I should go back to cleaning, blergh.

C: Back to homework for me. Boo. Good job! I sneaked in some cookies for this review *hands over plate*

The Darcys of Pemberley is the tale of two romances: the continuation of Darcy and Elizabeth’s story, and the courtship of Miss Georgiana. For those who didn’t want Pride and Prejudice to end, this novel gives the opportunity to learn what happens after the wedding, to revisit old friends and foes, and to share the next chapter of their lives. 

My thoughts:

This is a PP sequel. Darcy and Lizzy are married. Family and friends are visiting. Georgiana is entering society, and might have a secret love (well yes she had a secret love ;)

Life goes on. They are happy. Some guests are overstaying their welcome. They wonder if Lady de Bourgh will forgive them (not that they care, cos she is a bitch.) The Wickhams are being bad as always. Babies are born and you will see all your old favorites :)

A nice sequel. I'd like to read more to see if Kitty and Mary finds love.

Lydia is such a foolish , foolish girl. So no, I can't say I liked her, I have never liked her. But, she is rather amusing to read about. She is a silly flirt who makes a foolish decision. We all know that.

So this is the story of how Lydia flirts with any man in a uniform, how she goes to Brighton and how she and Wickham run away together.

Foolish girl. But there is a bright side to it all, Lydia will eventually learn her lesson. And I mean eventually, it takes a long long time to get through to her. But there is hope for all, and in the end, I actually liked her.

A lady's reputation is a fragile thing. If anyone ever discovered that Miss Elizabeth Bennet had received a letter from a single gentleman, she could be ruined... or forced to marry a man she detests. In this Pride & Prejudice variation, Elizabeth takes the safer course and refuses to read Mr. Darcy's letter of explanation. Returning home unaware of Wickham's true nature, Elizabeth confesses everything to him, putting both Mr. Darcy and herself in grave danger from Wickham's schemes. 

My thoughts:

You all know I love these. They are my weakness, I can't get enough and if they are done right then yay. This one begins from the LETTER. She does not read it and does not realize that Darcy is good and Wickham is bad.

But Darcy loves her and longs for her. Some things are the same and some not. I can not go into detail but I really liked one thing that changed. It was hopeful. Another thing I did not like. Lizzy would not behave a certain way, not after the incident. She is no fool. But hey I can live with it.

I have read most of Reynold's variations and they are all fun. I really should read them all.

Because of the war, both are wary of falling in love, but when the two meet near an airbase in Hertfordshire, all bets are off. 

Set against the background of World War II, in Darcy Goes to War, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy battle something more than class differences. The greatest evil of the 20th Century is trying to bring Britain to its knees. In order to be together, they must survive the war. 

My thoughts:

There was not a lot left of the original story. 5 sisters, two fall in love, 1 make a bad decision. That's it. Darcy and Lizzy meet, they fall for each other. No drama, no heartache. Except the heartache that a war is going on and he might be dead the next day.

I like what happened to Lydia, and her sisters. Jane got her HEA as always too.

I actually think I would have preferred this one to not be a re-telling. Instead it would have showed the work women did for their country, and what men did. And how fast people can fall in love (with that I mean all the girls in the village who was preggers by soldiers).

Did you know that Mr. Darcy had an American cousin?!

My thoughts:

The title says it all...Mr Darcy has an American cousin! He is hot too and has money.

Do I like Caroline? Not so much. Did I like her in the end? Not so much, BUT she had improved greatly and we could have been friends. If I only did not hold a grudge ;) I mean come on, she is a hard woman to like in PP. Here she does learn to be kinder, and people even comment upon it. Because she was a bitch ;)

Anyway, enough with my grudge. Caroline and Mr Darcy meets and do not particularity like each other. But they keep ending up together, and in the same room. Damn that fate! Time moves along, and they become somewhat friendly.

The drama around them is Lizzy being ill :/ A houseparty with new friends. Lydia showing up (sigh Lydia). Mrs Bennet trying to marry her 2 daughters off and Caroline being nice!

Fun, even if I still do not like Caroline, ha.

The Madness of Mr.Darcy -Alexa Adams

My thoughts:

Honestly this was a sad re-telling ( but it has a happy ending!!!). But before that, so sad!

Mr Darcy has been a recluse for almost 20 years. Alcoholic, insomniac, he dwells in his own misery and thinks about all he has lost. Oh Mr Darcy! *cries* It was heartbreaking to see, but I knew the old Mr Darcy was in there, but he was just so depressed. 

Elizabeth has suffered too. The breaking point that leads to happy endings does not happen here. Lydia was not saved and therefore the whole family was shamed. Stupid times! Was it Lizzy's fault? No, but those were the times. So they were all left in misery.

Ok, now this sound depressing. But I promise you, happiness will come. Mr Darcy seeks help (well...is forced to seek help), he becomes better. And I ended the book with a smile on my face. Aww, better late than never. *cries again*

Conclusion:

A very different re-telling for sure. I enjoyed it immensely.

Elizabeth is delighted that this young and lively couple are helping to bring Miss Georgiana Darcy out of her shell. However, when her ring goes missing before the ball, Elizabeth is distraught, and her dilemma further increased by the threat of a scandal that appears to involve the French cousins.

My thoughts:

Awww there is nothing like JA variations, sequels and all the rest. Am I obsessed? How dare you Sir!!...ok ok, I am totally obsessed and enjoy them all :D

In this one we meet Darcy and Lizzy after the wedding and they will have a big ball, for friends and family. But there will be drama!

• A missing ring. Did she loose it? Did someone take it?
• An annoyed and annoying Lady de Burgh (put Caroline in that category too).
• Mrs Bennet being Mrs Bennet (we all know what that means, sigh!)
• And mysterious relatives showing up. Who are they?

There is some drama, some romance, and your favorite characters showing up and being their annoying selves ;)

There is also a build up for a sequel that I look forward to. But I will not go into things, I will let you all be surprised. 

Conclusion:

Enjoyable.

Her wondering soon turns to a different feeling when Sir Camden comes to stay at Pemberley, showing himself to be a very different man than was rumored. While Sir Camden struggles with his past and his commitment to his future, as well as the ill intentions of haughty Caroline Bingley, Miss Darcy must decide whether to listen to others, or the words written on her heart.

My thoughts:

This was a short and sweet novella. Georgiana has a nice head on her shoulders. Yes she did something not so good once, but she will not be fooled again. She can also look past what people are saying and believe her own heart and head instead. 

The novella is about Sir Camden who comes to Pemberley. He has a really bad reputation, Wickham bad. So Darcy does not trust him, Gergiana sees that there is more to the truth and gets to know Sir Camden. Who yes once was a scoundrel, but he wants to change. He was a good man and I admired his change of heart. I also liked that Georgiana knew what she wanted.

There is no drama just the two of them getting closer, and getting over that bump in the road about his reputation.

Conclusion:

A nice novella that I read in a sitting. I also really really want to read the previous novella about Kitty finding love.

Review: Holidays at Pemberley - Alexa Adams

Both a Christmas celebration and conclusion to Tales of Less Pride & Prejudice, Holidays at Pemberley begins where First Impressions ends, with the marriage Fitzwilliam Darcy to Elizabeth Bennet, and spans the course of Second Glances to conclude their story. As the Darcys enjoy their first years of marriage, Charlotte Lucas is often invited to join them. Watching as the Bennet sisters, one by one, marry to both outrageous advantage and with great affection, her only ambition remains independence and respectability, stubbornly blind to the virtues of a love match. Miss Lucas thinks she has found an acceptable husband in David Westover, rector of Kympton and determined bachelor, but he remains oblivious to the implications of befriending a Miss Lucas. It may mean some heartbreak, but if Mrs. Darcy's pragmatic friend will only surrender to Cupid, she may find wild fantasies do come true, even for ladies dangerously close to thirty.

My thoughts:

I like these books cos they feel real, more austenuesque in the way they are written :)

And this book is Charlotte's book (even if we see all the rest and they get plenty of room too). In this re-telling Charlotte did not marry Collins, no Mary did that (and she was so the better fit). Charlotte is not spoken for and spends time at Pemberley and meets a gentleman. But of course we need a bit of drama and things take a long time to work out.

I liked what she did in the book. First impressions (book 1) is here were Charlotte meets David. Second Glances is their second chance (and was Kitty, Georgiana and Lydia's book) and the last part is the Third encounters and will Charlotte finally get a HEA?

There is also Lizzy and Darcy as they settle into their home, The Wickhams, Bingley's and the best Aunt Catherine there is, she is actually nice.

Conclusion:

A sweet sequel and re-telling of what could have happened if other choices had been made.

Review: Second Glances - Alexa Adams

A year has passed since the conclusion of First Impressions, and the marriages made by the three eldest Bennet ladies are prospering. Expectations are high for the two youngest sisters to do equally well. Join the reimagined cast of Pride and Prejudice as they pursue happiness amidst the ongoing obstacles of life, love, and interfering relations.

My thoughts:

Awwwwwwww, can I just let my review be that, awwww :)

Ok ok I will say something more. I just got the same feelings as I did with her other book. It was just so sweet and wonderful. It's a book that will make you happy. Sure there is some drama and doubt, but most of all it's just sweet in the most perfect way. Sweet that will make you smile and hope for the best for these young lovers.

This is then Kitty's book, and she meets a very eligible bachelor by mistake and wants nothing to do with him. Sir James is smitten and the dance these two dance. Kitty is rather like Lizzy and he will be the wiser. I really like how she portrays Kitty, it's the way I wanted to see Kitty, who was always in Lydia's shadow.

It's truly a perfect PP variation. I started reading it and did not put it down before I finished it. I could see Austen writing a sequel like this.

Conclusion:
Utterly charming.
