The Black Hawks by David Wragg

Paperback, 425 pages
Published October 3rd 2019 by HarperVoyager
Series: Articles of Faith #1

I have mixed feelings about this one, I both liked it, and do not wish to read more. Such a strange feeling. I mean it was a good book, I thought everything interesting enough, but then the end came. I had wished it to be THE end. It could have been, instead there was more drama instead of a conclusion. And will I read more, no. But why not? I just do not know. It was certainly better than ok, but still I can just leave it

Maybe it was the Black Hawks themselves, I did not like a single one of them. I liked the whiny prince and the not so good bodyguard Chel. But the mercenary peeps, meh. No thanks.

A good book that still failed to impress.

Life as a knight is not what Vedren Chel imagined. Bound by oath to a dead-end job in the service of a lazy step-uncle, Chel no longer dreams of glory – he dreams of going home.

When invaders throw the kingdom into turmoil, Chel finds opportunity in the chaos: if he escorts a stranded prince to safety, Chel will be released from his oath.

All he has to do is drag the brat from one side of the country to the other, through war and wilderness, chased all the way by ruthless assassins.

With killers on your trail, you need killers watching your back. You need the Black Hawk Company – mercenaries, fighters without equal, a squabbling, scrapping pack of rogues.

Prepare to join the Black Hawks.

Edit. Arfghhhh new blogger!!!! Not the first time the cover was missing

  1. I looked on the Internet to see the cover but I don't think I know about this one. It's too bad that it was not more.

    1. Damn it!! I hate new blogger. It was there when i scheduled it

  2. That's definitely an interesting way to feel about a book. Thanks for sharing

  3. Sometimes one book is enough lol. I've definitely started plenty of series that I enjoyed but did not read on.

  4. Ugh, I can't stand in-the-middle-of-the-road books like that, I never know what to rate or say :\

  5. Bibliocsanctum
    It was strange

  6. I know what you are talking about. I have a few TV shows that are like that. We watch it and I enjoy it in the moment, but when it's time to watch more episodes, I'm all 'meh.'

  7. Jen
Yes exactly! I just had one of those, and nothing wrong, but yeah meh when I wondered about picking it up again
