DNF Part One

I can not remember if I have done a DNF post this year, and I could not find anything, but if I have well ooops.

Some weird kind of mix between non.fic and prose. DULL

The author herself was narrating. BIG FAIL

Might have worked better in print, but then grimdark are so freaking rapey so nah

Ok so the main character was laughing while someone gets raped in the first pages. Gods, grimdark are so freaking rapey!

Those were all audio. The last two I tried via Bookbeat.fi. Where you get to try as much as you want for a sum per month, but yes you do not get to keep them. Oh and the app was funky so did not re new.

And here is a print. And it was DULL.

Next week comes Sep and October :)

  1. Yeah, most of the time an author's narration doesn't work for me either.

  2. I love this! DULL. BIG FAIL. Freakin' rapey. DULL. lol, it just shows that sometimes less words work so much better at getting a point across.
I'll avoid all of these. :)

  4. It happens. Sometimes we just don't like all the books.

  5. I actually managed to finish Godblind, but it was waaaaay overdoing the grimdark, even for me.

    1. Wow, even for you? Well I did say no almost at once. SO dark

  6. I don't think you've done a DNF post in a while, either. Too dull is definitely a DNF reason for me, too. Too many books waiting to waste my time.

  8. Sorry these didn't work for you. I have only had 3 dnfs this year (I think). I sometimes do start books and realize that it isn't what I am in the mood for so I put them aside for later though.

  9. You know how I love your DNF's and Luci! I've never DNF'd an audiobook because of the narrator, but I came close once. I ended up speeding the story up super fast to get through it. I've not tried that series or narrator since.

    1. I just could NOT with that author. It was monotone and lacked depth. Not even speeding helped

  10. I have not tried any of these. I love your reasons though. LOL, on point without the fluff!

  11. I'm not a fan of authors who narrate their own books (except for memoirs). There are exceptions to this rule, but mostly I'm not a fan. I've seen a lot of praise for that last book. I've been scared to try it. I still might one day.

    1. Everyone seemed to love Borrowed and I was SO bored :/

Yes, I am sure there are exceptions to the rule, but, no no authors. I do not care if you have voice training
