Best of June and TMST What are some of your reading habits

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

This week's conversation starter:

July 11th What are some of your reading habits, good and bad?

Good and bad. Oh I do not know. To good I will count these days my willingness to leave a bad book behind. There are too many books in the world, I can not read them all. So walking away from an just ok one is fine with me.

Bad ones I would count that I have a hard time listening to audio books. It works best if I am out walking. Cos if I try to do it indoors I need my earplugs cos else I hear everything else. So a bad habit is that it takes like a month for me to finish them.

EDIT: This was written in March and update is needed. I have mastered the arts of audiobooks :D I went from finishing one in a month if lucky to in a few days.

A good habit that is kind of bad too is that when I read a book I like I can just read for hours and forget everything. Like peeing.

One bad habit is I sometimes read too fast, I just can not stop myself, sometimes I really love the book and just want to get to the end. And sometimes I am meh about a book and yes just want to get to the end.

But I would say I have good reading habits, I read, that is a good habit :)

Hi All!

This is just a fun little meme that Carole and I are going to try  and do once a month. Give a little shout-out and "badge" of honor to our favorite book and movie of the previous month. This month we'll share our favorites of June.

Favorite movie:

For Me....LIFE

"I watched 4 movies in June. I know right, omg. 4! Of course only one we managed to watch in a single night. None were awesome, but if I have to choose I will go with Life. Sure I did not always keep attention, but omg that ending. That was awesome!"

For Carole.....The Secret Life of Pets

"I didn't watch many movies last month. But this one was good. I love animated films and especially ones about animals. It was super cute and worth the watch even if you're an adult. That cat was for sure my soul animal."

Favorite book:

"I did not read any truly awesome books either. I read good books and the best one has to go to Assassin's fate because it was the last one in the trilogy and I will miss Fitz and the gang."

"Again, nothing crazy good this month, but I did have a couple really good. The best one was Heart of Stone which is a sequel and in some ways better than the first book. The first book was better, but this was almost as good. I loved the characters and the story and the world. So good. I can't wait to read the last book of the series."

About the Authors
Carole and Blodeuedd have been blogging a long while now. The last couple of years the epic duo have been discussing books, watching movies, and even wetting the pen and sharing their stories with the worldwide web. They both love cats, chocolate, and a good story.

  1. The fact that I have trouble setting books I'm not enjoying aside is a bad habit of mine.

  3. Of course, getting so immersed in reading that you ignore things like needing to eat or pee is also probably a bad habit... ;) I have that same immersion habit, too!

  4. I was listening to audiobooks in the car during my commute to work. Now I'm not working so I prefer actually reading. I never can seem to concentrate fully on an audiobook. I think it depends on the book though.

I saw Life and it was a great movie.

  6. oh yes I read pretty fast as well and sometimes its more of a curse rather than a blessing. Especially when its a book I have been highly anticipating, and then I read it too quickly because I become so immersed in it. And then I kinda feel like I missed something.

  7. I too can get so engrossed in a book I forget to eat, drink or pee but I kinda like it. It's a special kind of magic that can make you completely forget yourself. 🙂

  8. I am glad you managed to master audiobooks. It took me some time to do it too, but now I can multitask and listen. I am really curious about Life. I haven't seen it.

  9. Bahahahha! Yes, frivolous things like hygiene can fall by the wayside if a book is engrossing enough. LOL

  10. My good habit is: writing my review for a book I finish asap.

My bad habit is: I take a long time to finish stuff...I am easily distracted.

  11. Ooh Life looks freaky. I do need to someday tackle the new Fitz series...

    "Like peeing" lol. Classic.

  12. Reading itself is a good habit, I should think! :D Hmm, as for a bad habit...I guess it would be my reluctance to dnf. If a book doesn't work, I should really learn to just ditch it and not feel guilty.

  17. I so need to be able to walk away from a book sooner, I'm one of those curious readers, so instead of dropping it, I force myself to continue, even though it isn't for me, I think I need to change this habit immediately, like you said there's so many books that I still want to read!

  19. You're not alone on the audiobook front. I only listen to them when I'm walking the dog or if I'm in for a long drive. Otherwise I'm easily side tracked and my mind starts drifting.

  21. I need to dnf more often than I do. I just have a hard time giving up on a book. I can lose myself in a book and forget to do other things but most times my family needs me and doesn't let me do that very long.

  22. Yes for mastering the audiobook. I really believe it's a matter of retraining your brain.
